Just bought my SVT a couple weeks ago and to my chagrin found a check engine light and progressively worse running, bucking / stumbling at above idle speeds and a sticky throttle (two separate issues). Ran the codes, only P0172. Pulled the plugs, they looked good, even tan color, so I pinpointed the MAF / TB. Pulled the MAF and did not look clean at all, so cleaned well. Pulled the TB and a ton of oil buildup on the plates.

Put it all back together and so far, all is well. The car has 54k miles and a K&N filter. It appears that either the filter was over oiled or enough oil passes through from the airbox to clog the MAF. Also noticed with the TB off there was a fair amount of oil in the intake from the PCV.

Anyway, check your MAF first!

what did you guys use to clean the MAF? and what did you use to clean the TB?

If you havea fav. brand or anything let me know that too.

That happened to my SVT as well.

I used compressed air to clean my MAF, you know those cans that are sold to blow dust off of your computer. Thats worked fine.

Oh and with the K&N filter, I just wash it with the cleaner i don't even bother with the oil because of this same issue.
