He was blocking and should have been pushed. He knew he did not have enough car to beat anyone to the turn.
That is not blocking. A driver has a right to protect his line as long he doesn’t make 2 consecutive line changes to “protect his line. Montoya only made one lane change to protect he line.

Harvick should be parked for pulling up in front of Montoya and the language after the race.

NASCAR won't drop a set and do it thou.
I dunno NASCAR is in a very giving mood lately.

Look how many fines have been given out this year.
I think they know that they have to nip this crap in the bud before it turns into the NBA out there.

They don't have what it takes to nip it in the bud. They don't want to sit a bigger named driver down because the sponsors will not be getting what they paid for.
They could afford to make Robbie Gordon sit down because he isn't one of the bigger stars and could probally care less if Jim Bean raises a stink. Pennzoil/Shell on the other hand could raise enough of a cane NASCAR would take notice.

Unfortunately, that is the god's honest truth. NASCAR knows who butters their bread. This is exactly why you didn't see more sever penalties go to the Hendrick teams with all the times they've been caught cheating, they are the biggest teams in NASCAR, with the biggest sponsor deals, and the biggest name drivers.

The owners seemed to take it ok....

Ted the lane move by Montoya seems super aggressive to me and he did say he was braking early all day so if he did, he may have suprised the 1 car. With 15 or so laps to go with these guys and the large money at stake all bet are off.

I wonder if nascar will basically just try to make the deal super corporate and take away the personalities. If Montoya would have done that to Dale Sr 10 years ago, I wonder what would have happened

I agree with you. It was very aggressive for him to do that knowing he's been braking early, there was a good chance of him getting hit. I would still say that he's protecting his line rather then blocking the #1 car.

He would have gotten jerked out of the car like Eddie Cheever did in the IROC race that year he dumped Earnhardt. E did not do anything but gave him a good talking to.

Robby Gordon did not get sit down for a week for wrecking anyone. He got sat down for failing to park the car when NASCAR told him to. They told him to park after he hit Ambrose but he kept going then decided to celebrate and "interupt" Harvick's celebrations.

Agreed- in 1990 I ran into E sr at a eatery near Sears Point. He was with a few guys and enjoying a steak and a few cold ones when some overweight "fan" approached him and told him is had no right to drink a few days before a track event.

HE stood up and got real close to the guy and told him (very aggressively)that he made his living going 170 in corners and if he had a problem they could take it outside.

I thought that E was going to rip the guy apart. But the guy smartly said he was sorry and returned to his table. We all took a very deep breath!

I saw a very different Dale Sr year later when I worked on a Union 76 Commerical with him in Agoura. He was in his fire suit and took tons of instant pictures for all the kids getting off school down the street.

^^^ Sorry, but getting into somebody face like that is just ASKING to have some idiot put a gun to your belly and pull the trigger. You just never know, to me its some idiot celebrity acting better than everybody else.

good luck

LOL ... that is funnier than Vin Diesel 'I live my life a 1/4 mile at a time ...'

But that fan - having problem with him drinking a few DAYS before a race - yeah thats a realistic expectation.

Well Since they both had helmets on you do have to in their face to be able to hear one another.

I would be pissed too, but to resort to that, sorry, i have better control of myself than that. Besides those guys punch like little kids...

I really think that NASCAR really just thought it was a no blood no foul thing.

Just a little pushing and shoving, ect.

Ass is not one of the big 7 words on TV so no fine there.

They will be mad at each other for a little while and then it will get over it.
