I know there's one Jetter out there who has the KYB struts too. His FJ name is Matt Wells, I bet he'll be able to answer your questions.

Here's what he said when I asked him how the KYBs felt.

I live in West Virginia, so the roads are 50% pothole and frost heave, and curvy as hell! No problem, ask as many questions as you like. I believe I have a pretty livable setup for my road conditions. My car is daily driven.
Sounds good to me, plus I think he also has Steeda springs.
 
They also make a performance-oriented adjustable damper (GR2), but I can't remember if it's available for the Focus. I put the 'regular' ones (prob what's on ebay) in my wife's '00 wagon a year ago, and they've been fine so far, rides/handles like stock (which is not a bad thing, btw).

The GR-2's are the "normal" ones. The adjustables are called AGX's and I don't believe they make those for the Focus.
