pull a fuse?

 

Hold on...do you want to disable DRL? Or, do you want to run your fogs as the DRL's?

With an 02 model, you should be able to pull the DRL relay from the fuse box under the hood (possibly R12 -- look in your owner's manual).

Not for emissions, but it can depend on the province. But if there's a safety inspection or some sort of transfer of ownership or certification, there should be a DRL system in place. All cars since 1990 should have a DRL system in place.

I'm in the camp of turning on headlights even during the daytime a la Young Drivers of Canada. DRL's are often just headlights only at 80%. It doesn't make your rear end visible.

 

ha, go figure, i went to young driver's too...any, I'm curious to know as well....is there a way to disable them? way to go ford, for not making the parking brake turn off the DRL's like basically every other automaker...

 

yes i want to disable drl by pulling the relay and taking a piece of 12gauge wire and spade connectors just like the foglight mod...im looking at the wiring diagram and i should be able to jump 2....but which ones????...if i pull the relay my low beam lights wont work only the high beams.got that from the repair manuals wiring diagram.



and yes i do need drl to pass inspection thats why ill keep the reelay and use it once a year...other then that i plan to get a switch to activate my fogs AT ANY TIME even with no keys...so ill use them as drl's....but i dont want the foglight drl mod because i want to be able to have the car running with NO lights on....IE parked somewhere in the winter at night in the dark....want heat...start the car, but THOSE DARN DRL'S...and im replacing my silverstar bulbs every 8 to 10 months....so if there off 50% of the time they might last almost 2 years....and the fogs havent burned out yet (knock on wood) so that should balance things out and give the facia a better look in my opinion....

what if you did the DRL-foglight mod, then just spliced in a wire to control power to the foglights? turn switch off, no power. Switch on, power going to foglights?

just a thought...

 

well...after trial and error...the foglight drl drl mod IS the way to go...now as suggested im gonna have to slice the wire and get a on off switch put in the cabin...but now i dont wanna drill through my firewall, and at first glance all holes seem to be full....i dont wanna drill a hole if i dont have to...and i dont want water ingress because of this wire going through. any tips??...ohh ya i want the switch to end up between the 2 front cup holders.
