Interior mirror covers

OK, so I have noticed there seem to be two different sizes of the covers that go over the mirrors on the inside of the doors. Mine in my '00 ZX3 and in my '01 ZX3 are both taller than others I have gotten from junkyards. Is this a ZX3 to sedan difference, or is it a difference between model years?

I have acquired a "hodge podge" collection of interior pieces through the years, and the most recent set of these, which I spent the time to remove the texture from, paint, clear coat, wetsand, and buff out, turned out to be too short for my doors!!!! Ugh, how frustrating!! I could have sworn this set came out of an '03 ZX3, but can't be 100% sure. Did they change the door panel or something? Or is this a set of sedan covers that I'm messing with by mistake?? The door panels look the same on the '03, which I stripped the inside of to swap to my car, but I don't know. Anyone have any insight on this??

I have never noticed this... it's my understanding that they're all the same from '00-'04 (except, of course, power vs. manual controls). I have never scrutinized them by size, though.

I did notice that some cars have a little piece of weatherstrip attached to those covers, so I yanked a pair off of junkyard cars to put on my SVT, which never had them.

Hmmm, I need to double check to make sure the ones from my 00 Kona ZX3 will fit my 03 ZX5. And the ones from my Kona have the weatherstripping piece on the back side whereas my 03 doesn't. Guess they stopped putting on the weatherstripping to cut cost.

As far as I can tell, the only purpose that weatherstrip serves is to hide the paint color peeking out from the door jamb.
