Hello everyone I'm looking for some assistance with wiring in some foot well lighting in my car. I am pretty adept at wiring stuff so I can do the labor it's just getting the actual wiring diagram in my head to follow. Here is what I want to happen, I want these lights to turn on when I have my dome light on, have them turn on while I have my parking lights on, but I also want to be able to shut them off while my headlights are on in case they aren't approved for me to have on and I see a cop for instance. Could any of you lighting guru's help me with figuring out this wiring diagram?

If you do dome light then you need to tap into the dome light wiring which iirc runs through the apiller on drivers side. They will then go on and off with your dome light and when you open the door. I just wired mine direct to the battery for power and installed a remote control so I can turn them on off whenever. Took about 30 minutes to do all 4 footwells and hookup the remote and power.

Best way would be to tap into the dome light wiring, then add a switch with 3 selections. Run that switch to your battery. Then it should go something like this: 1st position - off, 2nd - dome, 3rd - on.

That way you will have the ability to turn the lights on and off at will and also set them to turn on with whatever position your dome is in.

To do what you actually want would be to tap into the dome and the headlight switch at the same time, which it think you will blow fuses if you want them to do exactly what you said.

To do exactly what you want would probably involve relays. I can figure out simple lighting diagrams, but this is more convoluted. I'm sure there would need to be an override relay hooked to the parking lights.

Maybe you could have two sets of lights, one hooked to the dome and one on the parking lights. Or the three way switch isnt a bad idea.

simplest way of doing it,

purchase 2 seperate leds and wire 1 to dome trigger, 1 to parking light.
or purchase bi-color leds, it will have prongs. hook 1 side to dome light trigger, hook another to parking light, and 1 to ground.

Actually I take it back, you'll need a DPST switch because the headlights are positively switched and the domelights are negatively switched so one set of poles on the switch will be supplying latching power to the domelight relay and the other pair of poles will be supplying a ground to the headlight relay. It's very simple to do. I can draw it out if you like.
