Does anyone know someone who can point me in the right direction or give me some info.

My car was being scoped out by a guy tonight in a truck. I got his plate # but would like some info on him to feel a little more secure.

Sure the cops have the info, but this is a big city and there's nothing that they can do, but I'd rest a little easier if I knew who this guy was just in case something happens to my car.

No sir. I'm up to date.

I believe this guy had a police scanner.......

I called the cops out and just as soon as I hung up the phone, he sped off in a cloud of smoke. I did get the plate number however.

Ok guys I'm throwing this out there........if you can help me out...

I'm thinking this could be the guy that broke into my car the first time a few weeks ago too...

Make: 99-2001 Chevy S10
Color: Either Silver or Beige. Couldn't tell the actual color because of the streetlamps
Plate#: 6CR-L32
State: Texas
City: San Antonio

Thanks

just take it to the cops and say you believe he is the same person who broke into ur car before because he has been hanging around a lot and remember him around before just wasn't on edge before. Also tell them that he probably has a Police scanner because everytime you call them, he speeds off right when you put the call out.

They will immediately go after him, if not for the vandalism...then definitely for the police scanner in a sketchy car.

Also don't forget to tell them exactly what was stolen out of your car, because if they get a warrant for his house or at least he allows them to look in his pickup bed/house, they will be able to spy stolen property easy.

Do it ASAP, longer u wait...longer he has to get rid of property, break into ur casr again, and just plain old time detereates the case more.

Yeah man, I did that last night. I only got 3 hours of sleep... I was so trigger happy last night it wasn't funny. Eitherway, I should have all the info by tonight of who it was and atleast I know a name.

Unless you have someone on the inside of an agency it close to imposible to find the information.

I had someone ram my truck with a shopping cart and an eye witness take down the license plate of the car they got into. I called the police on it and they would do nothing for me in terms of tracking the person down.

im pretty sure that info is public property...its fairly easy to go to the DMV and get addresses

Depending on your state's rules.... but its not hard to get the info of the license plate.

Just go in, say "I got in a fender bender with this guy and I need to get a hold of him" pay the administrative fee and you're set. Thats why, in California, Law Enforcement types and their family members have special flags on their records that won't allow the acutal details to be released.

If you run my license or plates, they come back as registered to the Burbank Police Department. Not even DMV employees at the offices can get my "real" address.

Here's the CA DMV's official statement:

"Your mailing address may be given to requesters providing a valid reason for requesting the information. If you receive mail at your residence (which I do not anyway... everything goes to my PO Box, the address printed on my license is my PO Box even), then giving the DMV a seperate mailing address is optional. Your residence address is restricted to authorized requesters per Vehicle Code Section 1808.21"

yup, thanks for dadding that point. For obvious reasons:thumbup:

...me personally would let the cops do it tho if they are willing, only because if they are shady enough to break into my car, they are shady enough to get physical. Plus the more contact with someone, the more they can work up a story around what u told them

IIRC in TX all plate info is public record.
Yes sir it is.

I found a site that I can pay 20 bux a month and run any record I want.

I'm still waiting for the password to be emailed and I've got the info I need. After that, something happens to my car.....I know where to look first.

That's good for people snooping, but bad if you were involved in something illegal.

I guess every law though, has it's purpose.

On a side note, SAPD won't do anything about it. I didn't physically catch the guy INSIDE of my car, but I did catch him with drving violations. They said that they would stop him if they see him, but the chances of that are slim.

The guy must've had a scanner of some sort because he took off right as I hung up the phone with the police.

They didn't even take my name??? :dunno: Now that I think about it.......

We'll see what happens in the next few weeks though. Hopefully I scared this guy away for good...

Not really. Sections 1808.22 and .23 detail that law enforcement, and lawyers working on active cases with relevance, as well as auto manufacturers for purpose of recalls and such can get the info.
