LSDs for the Duratec?

Just looking down the road at possible upgrades for my 2.3 Duratec...

If I eventually put some serious investment into this engine (enough to approach 250whp) I might like to further invest in a Limited Slip Diff.
A search was inconclusive, but I did find:

Provided by Egz:
"The Duratec uses essentially the same MTX-75 manual transmission, except the bell housing is different (stronger and reduced NHV, and possibly different bolt pattern), the final drive is different, with a 3.41 (or 3.42) final drive, compared to the 3.82 of the Zetec. 3.82 and 4.06 swaps should work just fine, and any LSD will work."

1. Will an LSD specified for an SVT be compatible for MY CAR ('05 ST)?
2. Quaife vs. Torsen vs (anything else relevant) How do they compare?

SVT has a getrag transmission in it where the regular zx3,5 and so on all have mtx-75 aslong as the motor isnt a spi. your car will also have the 3.82 gearing that they went with for the non pzev cars in 05-07.

you can use quaife or the torsen, there is a lot of debate on the subject of which is better. in most cases you will find the torsen for less money as it is a ford racing part and is from north america where as quaife is a european part.

good luck!

The difference between the quaife and torsen...essentially no difference. Contrary to what people might say, there is no difference in feel.

My own opinion? The torsen is typically more affordable if you can find them. But...I know of at least 2 that have failed (maybe more). I haven't heard of a failed quaife yet.

Fantastic point, Brad - this is the reason I would dump the extra cash on the Quaife. Well, that and previous fantastic experience with Quaife diffs.

There really isn't a difference between the quaife and the torsen.
I personally chose the Quaife due to the included warranty of replacement even when raced (helps i found a new one for cheaper than the torsen too), plus I have never heard of a Quaife failing.
I have physically seen a Torsen fail.

and best $$$ spent to stop wheel spin and get traction was buying a nice set of sticky tires. I bought a set of toyo 888's.... even with the turbo, I have no wheel spin in 2nd gear at all at the track. I use falken 452's for the street, and spin through 3rd gear. Tire rubber makes all the difference.

i am making over 300 whp on my duratec and have a torsen. Okay so far.

FSWerks uses the Torsen in their tuner cars making 400+ whp and they haven't noted any issues either.

I don't believe quaife offers a warranty anymore in the United States.
I think you will be okay with either. It will be easier to find a torsen.

I'm gonna thread-jack my own thread...

How exactly are you making 300whp on that Duratec? The mods listed in your signature line are not the usual grocery list for making that kind of power...
