Does anyone know if someone else other than Quaife makes either a close ratio synchro gear set or a dogbox for the MTX75? I know there's some awesome stuff coming out of the czech republic for reasonable prices (think $2200 for a complete suzuki swift dogbox w/out casing) but I have yet to find anything for the MTX75.

They have some pretty awesome sequential stuff that is universal and could be used on the MTX75 as well. SQS and I think Seqshift come to mind on that stuff.

Thanks!

A little late here- but these guys make a close ratio set for mtx-75(as well as helical and plate style diffs and also 4.75 final drive).

Run your cursor down the Honda apps to the bottom-you'll see Ford MTX-75

Material spec (steel) is most important on any aftermarket gear set. FWIW the stoc Ford gears are made in Germany with very high grade steels. The Quaife gearsets are made of EN36B steel(shown below) I would be interested to see the actual steel specs used on the other two gearsets that have been listed...This is EN36B...

BS970: 1955 BS970: 1991 COLOUR CODE DESCRIPTION
EN36B 655M13 Bright / black 3% nickel chromium case hardening steel

CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
Car 0.10 / 0.16
Sil 0.10 / 0.40
Mang 0.35 / 0.60
Chr 0.70 / 1.00
Nick 3.00 / 3.75

A mail has already been sent...As most are aware ,when it comes to the MTX75 we know our 'kogs' here!!!..Should also add that we have contacts in UK for unique MTX75 'euro only' parts and have built many Quaife gearboxes,ATB diff units,Torsen units,Kazz units etc, incl pure custom builds for Noble and Aerial Atom cars...some of our units take 700HP+....(Turbo Hoses Noble in Ca)

No problem Juggernaut..

Terry-their website lists 3 different plate types for the mtx-75 if you scroll down the apps here:

http://www.teammfactory.com/metal-plate-lsd

Assuming they actually make these for mtx-75....If you talk to them again maybe you can question them if normal Honey or syncromax is ok with these, as I've seen reviews from other (non-mtx75)people using these that state they are ok with normal synthetic manual trans lubes, unlike kaaz....

Also-what do you think about the gears and ratio choices of their close-ratio set compared to quaife?
If I remember correctly-they are quite different ratios and mfactory only gives you 3rd,4th and 5th....

..OK,found the plate type.I'd say honey will be fine with it.The Quaife syncro gear set ratios are ..

1st..2.64...2nd..1.82...3rd..1.400...4th..1.130...5th..0.962 what final drives that can be had of 3.625,3.824,4.062,4.25,4.600 & 4.857.
Matching depends on power band and type of tracks you run etc...yes the mfactory only changes 3rd,4th & 5th....also your budget ..Quaife is expensive.

i have some major problems with the 4.785 finaldrive, the ring that holds the first gear in position keeps craking.
Now i stripped the gearbox again, and the is a big crack in the housing, between the two bearings.
I also bought the 3rd and 4rt gear, but from an other supplier.
I use RED LINE gearbox oil, us product, great.

...bit lost with your discription. 1st gear is 'the first' gear that sits against the output pinion on the output shaft. It is retained in that position by the syncro hub then a circlip after the hub...do you mean that 1st gear or a gear in another location?..Cracks between support bearing in the housing?..Sounds like the bearing preloads were not set correctly...who built the trans up??
