From edmunds
You can feel i-VTEC doing its thing, first changing the engine's feel and tone at 3,000 rpm and again at 6,000 rpm. Despite the engine's tendency to hold onto revs when you close the throttle (a slight annoyance tuned into the electronic throttle), there isn't a better normally aspirated four-banger in the world.

An even 200 was the planned horsepower rating, but the new SAE ratings system cut that number back to 197 hp at 7,800 rpm. Torque is up to 139 pound-feet at 6,200 rpm. The EPA rates it at 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, and it drinks premium. The engine in the 2006 RSX Type-S will be rated at 201 hp at 7,800 rpm and 140 lb-ft of torque at 7,000 rpm.

AFter seeing it from a distance. It gives the car a perspective. And its ugly. I like the other pics everyone posted, but there taken up close. Now I can see, the car is hideous!!! The front does'nt match the rear. It does look like its trying to be a Eclipse alittle bit. The cars design just looks unbalanced. Maybe if it were a hatchback, it would be a different story.

So is this in accordance with the new SAE standard of testing HP and Honda cars showing lower horsepower ratings?

Yes. Both the Si and the upcoming GTI have 200HP by the old spec, but 197 under the new. It's probably causing the marketing people fits.

Yuk, might as well call it the ACCORD II. Honda sure seems to be really messing up lately. the accord is hideous with a huge ass, and then they were like hey.. why not make the civic look the same?!? 2000 was the last good year, the hatch si is crap and now when they finally make it a coupe again, they mess it up by making it look ghey. oh well, it will be nice to see the number of civics everywhere diminish.

Re: New Civic Si\'s (56k death to all)

I read a story where someone said this new Si was something like the Type-R of old. Plus there's more to a car then HP. It comes with LSD and a well balance chassis and kick butt shifter but then again if you're not a road course person or an auto-x freak you probably won't care for these things.

It's a solid vehicle with a great engine, if you can't see that then I don't see how you can be a car enthusiest... but I suppose it's like the video gaming scene and how some people hate on other consoles.

I just see a really tight and fast compact sports car for 20k.
