Yea whats your point ? The better turbo needs to take some away from the 700.00 higher cost as well as a better down pipe 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 and a few other things

ok, so the extra money is somewhat justified but its just that you've bashed the idea of the gude kit being non-intercooled, internal wastegate, no new manifold...pretty much being a "stage 1" kit for like 2 years now only to come out with a better version of the same kit

kind of going against everything you used to say
 
wouldnt it be a smarter move to get the starter kit with a t3 turbo? Would be just about the same price.

Look at what you just said!!!!

He has bashed the gude kit for all of its shortcomings: THIS IS TRUE

He has come out with a better version of the same kit: THAT IS ALSO TRUE!

TOM fixed what he feels were issues with the SIMILAR gude design and is selling something similar to hit a price point.

TOm is not going back on the advantages of his "full kit", just offering more options to the FOCUS FI community.

Also, TRUenemy00 , what form of fored induction are you running again?
 
Well I don't blame tom. Everyone seems to want a cheap upfront cost on a turbo kit no matter what the track record or tuning is. Hell, if you can't beat em, join em. These things ought to sell like hot cakes.

TRU i think Saleen09 hit all the points

I have not built this yet tho i have made some of the pieces to see if i could correct some issues i have seen in other kits and i feel i can , If it prooves i cannot i will not make the kit

First on my mind is a SFAE turbo kit then work on the power ,I feel i can make a safe LOW boost kit 10PSI MAX

Let's see...Next month I'm going to Germany for 4 weeks so the car will be free. I already have 42# injectors, 70mm Pro-M, and the SCT software with a blown tune. Anybody want to buy a slightly used Aerocharger kit, cheap?

But seriously, good job Tom. I think this is the kit people have been waiting for for years. And it should sell very well.

You might want to post on the ZX2/Cougar/Contour forums. Might get some more takers there also.

Still, it's a bit expensive when you finally add the cost of tuning to the final price and the fact that no intercooler comes stock. You're talking $800 to $1000 more for a mic combo of some kind, plus intercooler. Still that's less expensive, when all tallied up, than the Vortech and it will make more HP and way more TQ than the Vortech.

Nice your finally seeing that most of us I4 Ford owners are cheapskates or poor or both. Why else would we have bought a 2.0L Ford, cause they're cheap and give good gas milage and insurance rates.

If I was to say buy this kit now, and later on down the road, would you offer a upgrade package that would basically make this kit into your other kit? or is it 100% completely different?

Maybe that's just me. I should probably try to look up the price on a new GT-20 turbo... Based on the lack of "coolant lines" or anything similar in the parts list I'd say this GT-20 doesn't have a water cooled center section.
 
This is what i am doing

GT20 turbo good for 240HP easy NEW, With internal waste gate set to 8 to 9 psi
Piping
Oil pan with welded bung
hoses,clamps
Oil lines and fittings
Adaptor for stock manifold ,w/ or w/o EGR fitting

Im guessing but 200 to 210HP and 200 to 220TQ

2695.00

Customer will have to choose his own tuning NO tuning comes with this kit at the 2695.00 price as well as no intercooler ,But with only 8 to 10 psi none is needed

Tuning can be offered with
Autologic 4 setting
Diablo/Chipmaster 2 setting
SCT self tuner

What i am trying to do is offer a lower price kit to compete with the Vortech kit ,Well not realy i hope it blows it out of the water

I am looking for a close car to make this kit on and will give a discount ,Need it for 1 to maybe 2 weeks at the most

I would like to say finally tom has opened the door for us married people whose cks go mostly to bills to get a jump on the inports who think na is the way...pretty smart and cool set up i must say and the gt20 is not that pricey but what you are looking at with hardware is a lifetime warranty (right tom) now i can finally start saving some money for a good tune so tom what i am looking at here is 2695.00 + 850.00 so that would be 3545.00 for some serious fun ohh yeah time to get a cu loan for this puppy...

(Wastegate) ,I think i explained this to you Nothing over 10PSI and it is nothing like the gude kits waste gate ,If you have ever seen one up close you will know what im talking about

(No Fuel Man) I have and am offering a tuning solution with the kit if they choose to take it

(Stock Manifold)The stock manifold SUCKS there is no doubt about this ,But if you go back and look my referance to the stock manifold was when comparing my kit to the gude kit and my kit(the big kit) coming with a stainless turbo manifold and the gude not

(No intercooler),No intercooler comes with this kit again read above about comparing my BIG kit to the gude kit ,I dont like to run over 10psi of boost and if this kit was built to run over 10psi a cooler would be needed

And if this makes you feel better the stock mainifold and no cooler does not make a good turbo kit and this kit is ment for 10PSI and NO more 8 to 9 is what im shooting for , Like i said before if i can do this SAFELY i will build it if i do not feel it is safe i wont

TRU anything else ?

I basicly have already built this kit CUSTOM for Dejomo on his car but with a cooler and bigger turbo,He used a stock type header,There was many pictures posted of it

So what issues are you improving from the other kit?

a bit bigger piping, better turbo?

it was the wastegate, no fuel management,the stock manifold, no intercooler... those were your complaints and as far as I can tell, your kit is exactly the same when it comes to those complaints
You neglected to mention which FI you are running......

I didnt know you would build a custom kit for cheaper than your big kit

3500 is excessive?

frankly I wouldn't trust a turbo kit cheaper than this...maybe i'm deluded, or just stupid, but when you think about the prices, and the fact that this IS a GT-series turbo built by one of the few people who WILL NOT do something for you unless he feels its 100% safe, I wouldn't complain about the price.
