Ford to Unveil Revised Focus at Detroit Auto Show

DETROIT -(Dow Jones)- Ford Motor Co. (F) will unveil a revised and upgraded edition of its Focus small car at the Detroit auto show next month as the auto maker looks to capitalize on increase interest by consumers in the U.S. small-car market.

Ford spokesman Jim Cain, in an interview Wednesday, said the company is planning to show off the refreshed Focus for the 2008 model year at a time when "small cars are the hottest cars going." The car is expected to debut with a variety of new features, including standard side-curtain airbags that are generally thought to improve occupant safety. Ford's entire lineup will be equipped with side-curtain airbags by 2009.

Cain declined to discuss specific details of the updated Focus, which is built as a sedan, wagon and coupe. He said the company showed the car to dealers in the summer and "they were very impressed with the depth of change."
Guess the rumors of the wagon's demise were overplayed. :dunno:

Wagon, huh? I wonder if they have their facts straight? Guess we'll see soon enough. :)
They don't.

How many Focus wagon or hatch mules have we seen? none

It is rather ironic that Ford is saying the small car segment is hot now after they have done so much to ignore it for the last few years. If they believe it is so hot why are they not indicating they are going to introduce the Ka to the US?

Not planning on holding my breath waiting for the Euro model to hit our shores.

I'd pass out before this next revision gets here.

I dunno Thameth. I haven't even seen a mule in some time. But if I had to guess, I'd say in about 2-3 weeks, we'll start seeing pictures. New Ford cars in Dearborn are usually the world's worst kept secret!

I'll also be down at NAIAS for my yearly visit to the area (and Somerset if I have time).

BTW, online tickets are being sold at www.naias.com . I recommend getting them that way or if you can get a hold of advanced group tickets. The lineups can be insane.
