some interesting links here. also in case you didn't know the next gen mustang will be officially debuted on Dec. 5th. and ford has been releasing crappy instagram 15 sec. "mustang inspires" videos (so horrible, real car people should have made them). so far only one has shown something from the new mustang.

I am not surprised at all with the comments coming from Mustang owners. Many of those posters are likely in their 40's and 50's, who lived the pony car days.

C'est la vie.

Ford needs to attract new buyers, like the Focus ST and Fiesta ST do. I have sold many wheel sets to the ST guys, and just a few were previous Ford owners. The slump in Mustang sales assuredly was a sign there is a need for change. With an IRS and a world platform, this will be a hit, old cranky guys or not ;) .

If I wasn't knee deep in another focus build I would have definitely opted for a track focused ecoboost Mustang, LSD, slap on some Brembo's, give it a weight reduction, a free flowing exhaust, some NT-01 rubber and a tune from Randy.
Down the line slap on a better DP with an upgraded turbo, a great set of coilovers and then go mix it up with the Porsche guys on weekends at the track.
The ecoboost Mustang is going to be a monster.

As previously mentioned this happens with every body change of the Mustang and if you look around here it's happened virtually every time the Focus has changed and each body style has it's fan base.

I think the new Mustang looks brilliant and with IRS and even less weight than it was carrying previously I'd say mister Camaro is going to be in big trouble on drag strips and road courses now.

I really like it, usually a car has to grow on me. The current focus, I didn't like at first, but now I own one, b/c it grew on me. Although, when the 2005 mustang came out, I really liked it too, but that faded in a few years.

It looks great as far as I'm concerned, I'll be looking to replace my current truck in a year or so, this will be on my list

I like it. alot.

Never was a fan of the S197. Always looked big and bloated to me. This actually looks light, nimble, and fast. I havent found anything to complain about yet. Need to wait until a production vehicle is available so I can point at the giant wheel gaps.

The Coyote 5.0 has proven to be incredibly mod friendly so far with multiple owners getting into the 500whp club with bolt ons and tuning, the most complicated bolt on being cams.

I know of several that are running mid 10s at full weight and normally aspirated. It's just nuts.

I love the idea of the Coyote motor under the hood, too. However, the GT package always commands a serious premium over lesser packages. I guess a lot will depend on how much more a GT track package will cost over an EcoBoost with a track package. That would be my deciding factor.

I spent my late teens and twenties driving tourqey big blocks that couldn't do anything but go straight, the thought of one of these new Mustangs with the 5.0, good brakes and exceptional handling makes for a pretty inviting package.

I think the 2.3 turbo will be a great package but if I was spending the cash on a new car I'd just spend the extra money and get the GT, that said I likely wouldn't buy new anyways, I'll wait and buy one used so I won't have to absorb the depreciation. :)

Its so damn good looking it almost convinced me to actually follow the family tradition of owning a Mustang.
