Well, finally the design finished.

Several of you have known about us working on this, we have been wanting to come out with a complete solution for all of you high hp builds and this is the main piece that we have been needing to make.

Basically this will supply you with all the fuel 99.9% of you would ever need. It features 2 Walbro 255 fuel pumps, -6 return, -8 feed, and provisions for the factory sending unit:thumbup:. We are going to be putting together a complete return fuel system that will feature this in the near future.

This can also be used to hold 1 fuel pump as well for those who do not need this much fuel.

That looks pretty sweet, how much will it cost? Might be useful if my single pump setup comes up short when it comes to mapping my new engine.

Zetec. But really, shouldn't it depend on model year? So even the D23 '03, '04s should have the same tank as the others, right?

Looks good as far as the bracket design, but I think there will be a few problems.

The return fitting is going to aerate the hell out of the fuel and cause cavitation. It needs to be as far away from the pickup as possible and not just dump back into the top of the tank.

What happens during cornering or braking or hard shifting? There needs to be a baffle or something to hold fuel near the pumps while it gets sloshed around.

Also what are you doing to feed the two pumps into one fuel line? There needs to be check valves on each pump, very good quality ones at least. If one pump fails, all your fuel is going to back bleed through the other pump and there goes your motor. Check valves are a must for safety.

The pumps are y-ed in the tank. No need for a check valve the pump has one in it. Basically one pump can fail just like in any car check valve or not, 1 pump would not be enough to supply over 500whp worth of fuel anyway. Symptoms would be the same as a single pump going out. There is no way to put any baffling in the tank, it is plastic and the hole in the top is just not big enough to get anything in there that will do any good anyway.

The plan was to get the pumps as far back in the tank as possible but there is a hump in the bottom of it and you cant get any further back than the are now. The slosh could be toned down with some fuel cell foam if you wanted but that is pretty much your only option. This is the way most all 90s hondas are and it seems to work just fine for them. This is not for everyone but it is for the person who needs a return fuel system and retain the factory fuel level sensor and tank location.

But can I assume that if they invest all the time effort and money to build a custom fuel cell that fits in the stock location as the proper sump and baffles and send it off to have a bladder installed that you will be the first customer to drop $2500 on it? You can always put a fuel cell in the trunk but who wants to lose the trunk space and then there is the additional cost and safety verses just using the stock tank.

Looks good guys

CAnt wait to get me in on some TOPSPEED love hahhhaa

What do you guys think of a 2 1/2-3" tall aluminum spiral around the pumps 3 or 4 times as a every direction baffle or anti-slosh? There is a fuel proof epoxy to glue it to the bottom, it might help while braking, cornering or going down hill on a steep angle.

I feel that for my application this is adequate. If someone chooses to put baffles in their tank in addition to a dual pump fuel hat then that is their choice. The point is that you cant add anything else to the hat it simply wont fit through the hole in the top of the tank. The point of this product from Top Speed is to offer an affordable option to the average consumer in need of the additional fuel. No one ever claimed it to be the end all solution to all the focus fueling problems. The only solution to that would be something like mentioned in my previous post. And yes they do cost that much, Chris looked into getting some made for our Koni Challenge rx8's back when we worked on them several years ago.

Will this remove the fear of running the car with less than half a tank of gas. I was gonna go with a fuel cell with a bladder. The reason my car blew up the first time was because I starved the pump when I had between 1/8 and 1/4 tank of gas at WOT. I don't want to have to worry about that at all this time around. I'm willing to spen the money on the cell. So, in honest opinion, would this be up to the 500 hp, peace of mind at a 1/4 tank challenge. I really would like to keep the stock tank for ease of fill up, stock sending unit, etc etc..

can i ask if at the time when u had 1/8-1/4 in the tank that u knew that you shouldnt be WOT under high load full boost? to me it just feels like common sense...idk...if i get to 1/8 of a tank i start hunting for a gas pump no matter what...and i get light on the foot.

Can you run the tank lower if you keep the car off boost and drive easy? Presumably the fuel demands wouldnt be massive, so you wouldnt suck the canister dry.

I'm just thinking if you got
caught out and were miles away from a gas station.

Any mention of price?

Can we see a side by side of a stock fuel pump next to this? Just for a good comparison.

What is all this talk about starving your fuel pump below 1/4 tank? Does this apply for duratec cars? I've done WOT with the gas light on and its been okay. Are you guys monitoring fuel pressure and verifying this is a consistent problem, or is this issue just being promulgated from the rare, "I blew up my motor" thread.
I suppose this also depends on how long you are WOT and in which gear as well. 4th gear WOT is not gonna slam you back as bad as 2nd or 3rd will.

I doubt people are actually seeing the fuel starvation on any sort of datalog or what not when it happens. I also don't believe anyone is going to be able to definitively say that it was this that caused their motor to go. With any car fuel slosh is an issue, there are ways around it, with this comes additional costs.

Mounting fuel pumps like how we are is not a new thing. This has been done for many many years in all sorts of OEM applications and the aftermarket.

If you just have to be able to run your car out of gas, drop it off at the shop and I can build you a fuel system that will completely drain the tank before you have fuel pressure issues. However, that is not going to be cheap.

I don't think they have posted a for sale price yet.

So is this basically what jared has been using? And has he been keeping up 70psi offuel pressure with this design?
