Does norcal peeps do track days  I think some of the peeps invented track days.

The only thing I've done is Wednesday night drags in Sacramento. I've done that because its cheap.

Howdy-do norcal'ers, Happy New Year :)
New Years Eve I worked a 19hr taxi shift. I ran 37 fares for a total of 350 miles (mostly in town). We were so busy the casino security had to make people wait in a line so they wouldn't all rush the cab and fight over it every time one showed up! Normally we have between 2 and 5 drivers on duty, yesterday we had 15 I believe. I wish it was like that every weekend...

Happy 2013 to everyone as well!

Big thanks to Lorin & Jen for the party as well, great fun!

As far as track days, i am always down to go. I'd like to get one or two in this year with the Miata. There is a Sonoma event in May with Speed Ventures as well as a Buttonwillow event in October that are catching my interest already. MRLS and Sonoma are hard to find sometimes and can be quite expensive. Thunderhill and Buttonwillow are more reasonably priced, but require 3+ hours of travel from the bay area.

i'm planninng (and praying) for a track day on my thruxton this year. We'll see though. It may or may not happen at this point.

I like when monday's are wednesdays BTW. Great feeling. I'm so out of rythm. I can't wait to get back on budget and get back into a regular routine. I've been all wacked since Mike passed.

We have just the Fridge, the Alfa motor, and a table saw and we're done with his house. Then we just have the cars and the shop to deal with.

Happy new year. and just to make you feel better about life..

probably buttonwillow. In june or july i think. It's money and time at this point. i'm also not sure i wanna risk laying Bianca down...but then again i ride her on the streets and twisty's and there's no idiot comming the other direction on the track. and its controlled environment. Eh guess i'll go for it.

This is probably what i'd be doing for my first track day

It's not a bad deal. there's coaching and what not too. Sounds like a good program.

2 day pass is 250 for any two days. two people per pass.

Or you can get single day passes for $150. there's 30 bikes allowed per class per session. I'd have to start with the "slow" class. like Laz said. you don't have to go WOT the whole time. it's partiall about control and skill. I'm sure i'll learn alot about my bike.

na. the myth that California stays sunny and warm 365 days of the year is rather annoying. Nor do all people in califiornia have sexy bodys, wear swim suits, or drive convertables all the time.

Aaron:
I agree with what you're saying. I don't care for the front design of the '13 yet the bump in horsepower is a bonus and the R-spec has tempting added features. I have driven a V6 version with the manual and I don't recall the shifter being too bad. Unfortunately a new Coupe R-spec costs around the $27,500 mark which is WAY above the budget I am shopping.

Lorin:
From what I've dug up so far, the turbo 4 can be easily modded to make moderate gains getting it close to 300hp.

**le sigh** Maybe I'll keep the Focus for another 60,000 miles.

you sound like i did a few years ago Craig. Don't ditch the Focus unless you are sure you're ready. I was finally ready after 7 years and 140K miles later.

Chris, Does Rustoleum have Flat or Matte clear coat? I think I want to paint Bianca Flat grey with Gloss black accents....I think. Possible?

Hmm..Maybe a job for a pro...Any one know of anyone who have Photoshop and would be willing to do some mockups for me?

Chris, how comfortable would you be doing a Deep Gloss Black? and Clear coated? And what about Prepping Plastic?

Pretty comfortable with doing base and clear. The nice thing about clear is you can wet sand and polish the poo out of it. So it makes up for a lot of mistakes.

What plastic?
