I changed the oil on my 05 zx3 for the first time today. My car only has 3015 miles on it and as soon as I got under it I noticed the rear main seal is leaking.Has anyone else had this problem?

Dont know if anyone else has had it..But when I worked as a mechanic... We would see one that way about once a year or so... Usually the person that assembled it didnt get it in totally straight and no one else caught it...

Take it back up to ford and have them fix it before they say that you caused it somehow...

I don't know if I would mention that youchanged the oil for the first time at 3000 miles. Inthe owner's manual it says you need to change it sooner than that, I don't know if they'd say anything about the warranty if you're not following the manufactorer's schedule for oil changes (at least on the 03s I know they require it sooner).
Good luck!

Ide take it back and tell them you dont want it, and get your money back. If you talk to someone who knows, there is a way to do this. but this is rediculous. Id get the money back and get another one.

my car leaked and it turned out to be a loose valve cover, now it's doing it again but it's not the valve cover. also it's showing that there's too much oil in the engine when i put in less than you're supposed too. it's about 1cm over the fill line on my dipstick. the oil is all ovef the front of the engine.. could it be the PCV or whatever that is located near the header?

Replace your PCV valve and see what happens.

I traded the car on a Grand Am GT1 last Friday.Since I had already had ignition problems with the Focus and then the oil leak I decided it wasnt worth the trouble.
Damn. If everyone on Focaljet replaced their car because of those problems there would be no Focaljet.

Had to replace the valve cover gasket and make sure the VC bolts are snug but not too tight. This seemed to fix the oil leak. Also changed the oil to 5W30 it seems that 5W20 is so thin that it leaks more. Anyone else changed to 5W30?
