The car is getting this ROM error code, it will turn over, run VERY rough and then die.. any tech assistance is appreciated, I don't want to pay a garage to chase their own tail.

BTW - I have Tom's MIC

Tim,

Im not sure why your car is shutting off, but the P0605 code is simply showing up because you have a chip. I have the MIC as well, and get the same code (Noresull brought this to my attention awhile back, Im just passing the info on)

My best guess would be something in the MAF sensor. Either its unpluged, dirty, or faulty.

...from the dtc thread

P0605 - PCM read only memory (ROM) error Indicates the PCM ROM has been corupted. An attempt was made to change the calibration.
Module programming error.
Damaged PCM
Reprogram or update calibration.
Reprogram VID block (use as built data).
Check for other DTC's or drive symptoms for further action.

Not sure on Fords but on the Nissans I work on when that code is tripped you'll need to replace the PCM.

Like Casper said, the code is caused by the chip, and the PCM does not need to be replaced, however, it is important to find out what exactly is happening. do You have the ability to monitor the data stream? If so, try and narrow it down to which ever input is out of range and then find out why that sensor is reading out of range....
