i still dispise that thing. they didt make it any worse but they dindt make it better. I guess i dont understand the appeal on these things. it definatly took stying cues from the california 2 door one, but not the better styling cues.

even if someone gave me one id sell it or wreck it for spite, haha, sorry.

I hate the PT Cruiser. The sole reason for it's existence is for Chrysler to have a Neon classified as a light truck and artificially tip the fleet average truck fuel economy in their favor.
Really, what's the practical difference between a PT Cruiser and a ZX5?

Split folding rear seats.

I still like it... and everybody else can just bite me.

As for the sole reason for existence being to inflate CAFE scores... Tell that to the dealers who couldn't keep them in stock at introduction.

How anybody that drives a Focus can hate a PT Cruiser is beyond me!

Umm I don't see any difference

different tail lights, (yellow goes to white) and more of a dual circle headlight pattern. hardly a big difference, but i dont like it. I can understand omnis opinion on focus owners not liking it, but it seems to strike a nerve in me, it is an uglier neon, and i didnt think that was possible

I'm driving my dads PT at the moment. Dont like the tall, long throw shifter, the short 4th to 5th gear change, the doggyness of the motor, the school bus ride height...

Its not a focus, but hey... its getting me from point A to B.

I like the concept of the PT Cruiser, but not the execution.

When I first heard about it, I thought it was going to be a factory hot-rod.

What was the one common thing in all those hot rods? Basically they were:
1) Lightweight
2) Minimalist
3) Powerful

The result of their efforts was a heavy chassis with too much "junk" and not enough grunt. If they had a loud powerful V6 at least for the sound and V-look and made it a more bare minimalist platform they could cut down on the weight too. Then people could still customize them. Small styling changes aren't going to make a difference with those issues.

I'm with you Lorin!
I don't like them all for sure. But I think it lends itself to customization very well, I just don't see them the way I like them very often.
I saw one on the weekend, all black with with a 40's style eybrow over the windshiled.
It was done up like an old Packard with wide whitewalls.
I really like it!

I see it as a 'cruiser' not a hotrod.

If there are those differences mentioned, I sure don't see them, and they are certainly not worthy of being referred to as a "facelift".

Every niche car has a certain number of people that will like it. It's simply an automatic thing that happens in a macro-economy. If supply of a vehicle doesn't meet the demand of said vehicle, then a store couldn't keep them in stock. If you notice the production curves of the PT Cruiser at the start, they were A LOT lower than what the demand was for them. Therefore, making it seem like the car was EXTREMELY popular.

The same thing was done with Beanie Babies and Furby when they were first introduced. It's a marketing ploy.

that circle-[censored] headlight design is going to be present on all new daimler-chrysler vehicles an exec recently stated. the 300 started it, they are present on the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and now we see them on the pt cruiser.
the 02 dodge ram started it.
