FR head is the best bang for the buck.
I dunno.... I've yet to see the power out of any head that comes close to FocusSport's 165whp out of their setup.

The difference is that you pay $1600 for a TOTAL PACKAGE including cams, etc, whereas with the Ford Racing head you have to spend $800 on the head, $350 on cams, another $200 on cam gears....

For the few extra ponies.... I think its probably worth the extra $250....

The closest I have seen a ford racing head come close to a FocusSport head was Methknome's 159whp, which he had with a Ford Racing intake manifold... so tack on an extra $400 there, and you're OVER the cost of the FocusSport head

(this price comparison assumes that you'll be paying for labor and a chip with whichever you choose... so those costs are left out... only hard part costs are factored)

Too bad FS won't do a dyno with just its head, instead of 50 bolt-ons. Or a before and after with all those bolt-ons.

165 hp and 151 tq with the FR head. Out of the box with 10.5 to 1 compression. The new head will have better springs for bigger cams. This head packaged with any cam and gears for an extra 500. So 1295 and everything including the head is brand new.

Take those savings and put it into some more mods.

We did this a looooooong time ago. I think it was with the head package and just our cat back???

I think we picked up 28-30 HP to the wheels. That was before we had our own dyno.

However, I don't see the point in wasting our time with just testing a head on a stock car. NO ONE will run it that way and for good reason, the power will be completely stifled. Kinda like sprinting with your nose plugged and breathing thru a straw. And tie your shoe laces together while you're at it.

As for making good power...

I don't think anyone can make the power we do with the following stock parts:

STOCK Mass Airflow Sensor
STOCK intake manifold
STOCK unported throttle body
STOCK intake tube
STOCK injectors and fuel rail
STOCK fuel pump
STOCK gears

On 91 octane. Unless someone can prove otherwise.
