Power Works Blower install has begun!

I was swapping the head out yesterday and decided to start the install with the head out. It seemed to me the best way to access everything I need to get to. The set up for now will be the blower, Ford Racing head, SVT header and cat, with a Borla Exhaust. I sent the ECU in on Wednesday and it got back to me this morning, now THAT'S FAST!

I started with removing the two reservoirs located on the right side of the engine bay (coolant and power steering). This has to be done in order to access the alternator and brackets.

Image

Once the alternator was out of the way, the bracket is taken off as well.

Image

The oil filter needs to be relocated to make room for the blower, so the supplied adapter plate and lines are installed.

Image

The lower mounting plate is installed on the block.

Image

Pretty much the only fabrication that has to be done is the grinding of two humps on the bracket, no biggie.

Image

The stock tensioner is also replaced and a supplied bracket is installed onto the old alternator bracket.

The IAC solenoid is swapped over, the other lower mounting bolt is placed, and the supplied vacuum lines are installed onto the blower housing. Once that is done, I dropped the blower into place. At this point, nothing is tight, just prepped and awaiting the head install in the morning. Everything is supplied in this kit, even the connectors on the vacuum lines are factory type, no surprises at this point.

I had to leave half the day today to take care of some business, otherwise most of the kit would have been done. I'll try to post some more pics tomorrow as the day goes on.

Those intake runners are just BEGGING for a direct port nitrous system.
Image
Damn you and your nitrous fetish.

This is gonna be awesome man. Are you the first to have the kit? I haven't read about it anywhere else, so that's an assumption. Please try to get video or at least a sound clip!

Re: Power Works Bower install has begun!

this thing is SERIOUSLY a BEAUTIFUL work... I just got home from the day 2 of install... and watching the intercooler reservoir and everything come together... you can tell these guys put serious effort into this kit.

Downside? The price reflects it. But damn its hottness.

Re: Power Works Bower install has begun!

Sorry it took a day or so, but here are the rest of the pics. With the second day being a tech day, we took our time and wound up talking as much as wrenching.

The install could be done with the proper tools in about 10-12 hours, but I had a head and headers to do and then there was a small clearance issue with the SVT cat, but we made small work of that and fixed it. The kit was not designed for an SVT cat, so a small portion of the upper heat shield had to be cut out, not a lot, just a small bit.

Having the oil filter re-located is going to be awesome! I can now change the oil without jacking up the car, it's located now on the passenger side below the headlamp. The steel braiding does not come with the kit, it's just my own addition. There is an adapter plate on the block and there are supplied hard steel lines to come from that in order to clear the driveshaft and damper pulley. This prevents any issues with rubbing or chafing that rubber lines may have. This is then continued on with rubber lines to the filter mounting plate.

The heat exchanger is mounted behind the grille in the usual fashion. It's a pretty good size and I don't see many issues ahead with heat soak.

The cooler pump:

The blower install went well. No issues at all, the unit has a little weight to it, so bring a buddy to drop this down.

BBK throttle body (supplied with kit).

I twisted the intake tube a tad since we had plenty of clearance. If the stock location is used, there is a very nice supplied area for the filter to sit in securely. The ITG breather finlter is there only until I run out and get a tube for the breather to intake. With the intake twisted, the stock one will not reach.

The blower manifold in place, looking good!

The cooler bottle fits like a glove, then again, everything fits like a glove in this sucker!

Gutted Hatch doing something very awful to may car!

Install of the final VF motor mount.

Don't try this at home! I really have no idea what he's doing here, but it looked like a good photo op!

Kit installed and operating nicely! I'll post a little more on the install later, I need to go clean the garage and take her for a spin.
