my owners manual says the focus can pull a trailer less than 1000 lbs. my question is with my suspension setup the way it is (stock dampers, lowering springs, and cut stock bump stops), is this possible?

My last zetec auto sedan had eibach pro springs, stock dampers, and unmoddified bump stops, and I hauled a seadoo with it alot. 550# dry weight seadoo, on a 100# trailer= 700# load with some gas and gear in it. The tongue weight was under 60# with the seadoo on the trailer, so most of the weight was on the trailer axle, so that helped alot. I never went much over 65, and it seemed to do OK.
hauled a u-haul trailer (4x8 fully loaded) the car (zx3 with stock shock, sportline springs)was fully loaded, and it seemed to be good. Drove like that for 10 30 hours, also haul Polaris 700 Sportman quad. its no problem, check the load capacity on the tires.
1000 pounds? Shouldn't be a problem. Tongue weight should be around 150 pounds or less if possible (10-15% of trailer weight). As long as the tongue weight (plus cargo and people, driver included) stays under 500 pounds, you could probably safely pull a 1-ton trailer as long as you mind your speed, brake early, be kind to your clutch, and don't try to tackle any major hills. If you have an autotragic I wouldn't pull over 1000 without some upgrades including a trans oil cooler.
Edit: I didn't see the modified suspension bit... 1000 pounds with less than 100 pounds on the tongue should be okay but I wouldn't go much over that. A seadoo or flatbed trailer and a medium-sized quad would be about the limit.
I wanna pull my motorcycle... for those trips to deals gap. cause the car is as fun as the ninja.
I got a hitch on mustang
any one know where 2 ger a hit that will work on a focus?
