I'm completely stock with an open downpipe. I get around 22-24mpg with a slightly aggressive driving style. This is a mix of highway and city miles. I found that if I just do all highway I can get up to around 28.

I have had it in the snow. The stock tires don't even work on snow, lol, so I grabbed some all seasons for it. Handled pretty well. Never got into any trouble on slick roads.

As far as DD, I DD it every day. It's not that much of a job, however 2nd gear is really grabby, so in stop and go traffic, I find it hard to shift smoothly into second.

Hmm.....any chance you guys are on any Mazda 3 forums? Because I found one called MazdaSpeed3Forums.com (I think). The girlfriend and I are looking at getting just a regular Mazda 3 hatch in auto. :) Maybe I can finally get rid of my granny DD.

Btw, that last shot of your car looks SWEET!

None of them are great, but each has its strengths. Here are a the ones I have a presence on:

I haven't driven one of the new ones, but after reading a few reviews I think I'm glad I have a 1st gen.

The new seats look like they suck, the car has gained ~100 lbs., and I still vastly prefer the outward appearance of the older ones. Not to mention they're no longer available with stuff like HIDs, LED taillights, and rain-sensing wipers.

The only thing I really think I'd prefer to have from the new ones is the revised spring rates and dampers, and I supposed it'd be cool to have Bluetooth integration as well...

Yeah, I checked out the new MS3 again today (took my car in for routine maintenance) and I'm still not impressed. I do like the dash better, but it just seems like the MS3 is more of a gimmick now. The 1st gen is just much more refined of a car.

Apparently on the new MS3s, when you are turning, the headlights adjust slightly to give you more visibility on the turn.

The new seats aren't that bad, but mine hug me a lot better.
