Go ahead, you won't regret it. I have an atx with cai, exhuast, chip, 65mm tb, and FC 2003 race headers. Your cat will be gone soon anyway, you might as well take it off, so when it's time for e-check you can still put it back on. But do it for sure, I love mine they really go great with the other mods and wake up the engine. You can get a good combo deal from www.myfordperformance.com

Hi my name is Katie and I'm new to Focal Jet! I have an ATX, with similar mods as you. I am running a short header, with an off-road pipe, a flex pipe, and a borla exhaust... the only trouble persay that I've faced is that it idle's a little wierd because of the excessive free flow of the exhaust (with no cat that is) and the cams that I am running. It idles at around 800, which is fine, but it often sounds as if it might stall. It hasn't stalled yet though, and the thumbs up is that it sounds like an old 5.0 L Mustang. It will also be much louder, as the Cat. Conv. acts like a resonator for the exhaust flow. Make sure you get the o2 cheater, and it won't help to disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes to allow the computer to reset itself.

Good Luck if you decide to go with header and flex pipe! It will sound awesome!!

i went ahead and placed an order today. i figure that the extra power might be the straw that broke the tranny's back and then i can get the PA built tranny like toolebox just got

and be completely justified when i tell the missus i need $3500 for a new one

depending on which state you live in will determine how "illegal" it is to have a race header on your car. if you keep it quiet, then you will be fine until inspection time, and then i recommend either putting your stock cat in or finding someone you know who does car inpsections. positive side is everything that was listed further up on this post. you will not be disappointed by gains, but you will spend more money on gas because you will constantly be "flooring" the gas pedal

Jon,

Gerry a friend of Justin's was running an ATX with the Flex-Pipe and a FS race header. He was also running a 75-90 shot

He was running good numbers and still had the original tranny....which is freakin weird.

But, he seemed real happy with the setup. I wanna see it when you get it installed man. Never been in a N2O equipped car...hahaha

matthew, is it really really loud or something? im planning on getting a flex pipe and catback from trubendz. i dont want to get something too loud. and i dont think ive ever had my emmissions checked before on a safetly check. how do they do that? i want the race header to save money and sense i have a SC i figure a race header would be best

well i have heard the race headers, and they are pretty loud, but also it depends on what type of exhaust your running. adding a resonator should quiet it down some. the emissions is usually checked by a sensor that is put into your exhaust pipe. with your setup race header, flex pipe, and full exhaust(not catback unless you weld one in somewhere, you won't have one anymore). should notice pretty good gains with that setup though. some states do visual inspections on exhaust components(police especially), so you may want to check with the local focus clubs/chat rooms for best advice. i live in Texas, and it's pretty laid back here. Hope this is what you were looking for

im getting the fs race header w/flexpipe i. i think the db level shouldnt be to bad im running the fs stealthy setup now. its never loud or obnoxious even when revving the bejeezus out of it at the strip so im hoping for it to remain relatively "quiet" compared to other setups.

when its on ill post and let you guys know.

thanks for the input.

its on and man i love it. its a little louder but nothing i cant live with.

the cat was shot so everything is flowing really nice. itll be cool to see how it runs at the track. im going to take it out next friday and see. after the head and the cams i actually ran almost 1.5sec slower

so itll be really interesting to see what i get this time.
