I personally like gold, bronze, gunmetal, or black on red cars. If I had to pick ONE, it'd probly be gunmetal

 

Black with a color matched lip or silver/chrome lip.

 

I'd go with gold or dark bronze no doubt.

for a red car i would go with black...keep it simple. They sell wheel paint or i would also consider using rustoleum black textured. It looks just like powder coat and is very durable

 

i think if you had the right white wheel that would look great, or bronze

stay away from white colored wheels. they look awful on a red focus IMHO.

 

I have a red sedan with SAP, picked up a new set of wheels last year. I went with black 5 spoke, with the polished ring - behind the spokes. Love the look.

Machined or black. Body color is daring. No lip treatment.

 

Also check out Alsa Corp. You could do a MirraChrome or ghost chrome.

 

Try "black-chrome" or hyper-silver.....
Both cool looking & would definitely go with red....

PS I like the wheels, if gunmetal doesn't work out i might go black!

 

I thought i posted this once already but here goes again.

I edited my first post. I realize now that i didn't make clear that I was going to paint the factory wheels i have now. See the car came with a set of wheels but they are torn up! I am going to try and repair them but its going to take a while and i need something to roll on.

I like all of your suggestions and some of you guys on here have awesome taste judging by the look of your cars!

I think first i am going to paint the spokes only and leave the rim silver(factory color). I am going to try out gunmetal, but don't hold me to that, Gold and Bronze sound great too! Lets see what the parts store has on the shelf.

Hmm that brings up a question, if i am going to leave the lip silver, paint the spokes only, what color goes better with silver..... I have no taste in this area so you guys are my filter for this!

I will post a pic up asap, probably tomorrow or sat. See what you guys think.

Dark bronze FTW. Duplicolor has a nice bronze but to get it a deep bronze you need to go with a black basecoat first.

 

I ordered the duplicolor bronze yesterday, no one had it in stock.

no lip....on the 16s, a different color lip, especially in silver/chrome will make them look UBER SMALL and even cheap

im toying with the idea of painting mine gunmetal on my black zx3 as well...would love to see them on your car in black, would look awesome on a red car def.

duplicolor wheel paint works awesome, most dont use a clear because the wheel paint is such a good paint...they come out in a semigloss nice finish. just do light coats and clean them very well before. (duplicolor prep whipes are the best)

Ok here is step one, the masking tape

Here is the first coat, do you think it will be dark enough or should i go with the black base coat first?

 

I used one coat of Duplicolor Satin Black and three coats Bronze to get this color on my OZs.

See the difference a black base color makes?

I agree though, Bronze looks REALLY good on red cars. So does flat black.

 

Ok here is the final product, about 5 coats.Should i darken it with a black base coat or leave it like this? I used a flash on my camera.

 

Can you prop it up next to your car ? I have a red ZX3 and I'm curious. I stripped mine awhile ago.
