Greetings,

I have some questions regarding the installation of a SC Ford 2004 SVTF; They are as follows:

1. Who makes a street and CARB legal SC for California?

2. Where does one have the work done in So. California (Anaheim, Orange County Area?

3. Approx. what does it cost?

4. Is there any decrease in the gas mileage?

Thanks.

dude you posted again. glad to see it.

at the moment only Vortech.

WOlff Racing/ATI are trying for it right now. NO eta tho.

While i prefer ATI units over vortech units, I don't necessarily have a strict reason for it. Both rock. talk to slickshoes.

1. CARB legal kits. Your two current choices are the JRSC and the Vortech.

2. Both are built to be installed by mechanically inclined end users, but can be installed by shops as well. Jackson Racing is right in Westminster and can do the JRSC's right there, and Vortech maintains a list of recommended shops and can point you to a local shop if you call them.

3. Street costs on the kits themselves is about $2700 for the JRSC, and just under $4k (I believe) for the Vortech. And of course labor charges from shops will vary wildly
.
4. Depends. I just got back from a 180 mile trip and I seem to still be getting probably 25-28 mpg cruising at about 75-80. I'll get some real numbers soon though. Now when you step on it, MPG goes straight down the toilet like crazy. But that's just the trade off: power for less mileage.

I'd put my vote in for the vortech if you can afford it. THE JRSC doenst have much room for potential gains in the future. Vortech does.

What were your gas mileage numbers before? I tend to be rather conservitive with my driving (old maid style, VBG). As I have approx 500 miles on my SVT, I don't really know how bad they are when you push it (high revs). I am curently getting 22 mpg city. Yes, I am interested in going quicker.

On my zx3, prior to vortech, I ran 360miles / tank on highway driving. After the vortech, I am getting about 270-280 miles / tank on highway driving. Note that this is with casual driving, cruising about 75mph. :-\ I need a better tune... heh.
