I removed that annoying "DING DING DING" sound .. here are instructions ..

1) open the glove compartment all the way

2) locate the beeper module .. it's a black plastic box mounted on a metal one
Image

3) remove all the wires .. don't worry about keeping track of what went where because the plugs are specifically molded

4)there are 2 snaps (circled in red) that u need to bend back.. then the unit slides back and comes off
Image

5) open it up .. u'll see a black speaker (circled in red)
Image

6) use a flat head screw driver and pop it off
Image
... or unsolder it if u want to put it back on someday ..

the end .. enjoy listening to music with your door open and no annoying BEEP BEEP

yes .. it also does the sound of the lights .. it does every BING BING noise possible because u removed the speaker that BINGS ..

the other focus BEEP BEEP hacks will void your insurance if u get your car broken into .. because it will disable the factory alarm by tricking the car to think the car door is ALWAYS closed ..

Okay, here's what I did.

I stuffed some cotton from the end of a Q-tip into the hole, this muffles the vibration of the speaker, the sound is still there but much more subtle.

It is barely audable, so you don't have to remove the speaker.

I put a black arrow pointing too the small hole to put the cotton into.

Good mod though, I hated the chirping of the seat belt and door ajar reminder.

does it disturb anyone else that the chips on the bottom there say "tyco" on them??? I used to have some slot cars made by tyco, when did they make the big move to the automotive industry?

tyco has been making chips longer than they were making cars. But the company is going down like enron and worldcom because of corruption.

after checked out the "muted" bing bing idea using q-tips, i bound out to my car in the rain giggling like a schoolgirl to try it. upon reaching the box in question, i noticed my ding ding is coming from a box located my the driver's feet in a suspended black box (i could feel the vibration)

does everyone somehow have a different setup than mine? 2001 C-dan. i wanna stuff cotton in it!!

oh crap i forgot to mention that this mod is on the SVT ..

however,, when i owned my ZX3 i did the same thing .. and yes, it comes from the driver side .. i don't have any pics , but it's located behind the fuse box .. if you feel around you can reach it ..

i remember removing it completely to work on it .. it's been almost 2 years since i did that to my ZX3 so i forget how it is mounted .. sorry about that! maybe someone with a zx3 can help?

okay .. i dug around in my old ZX3 photos and i found this ..

ignore the wires .. i took off the driver side panel.. it is 4 bolts .. and it slides off . then u can see the fuse box .. i recall taking the fuse box off (or at least loosening it to move) .. and located the door chimer .. it's behind that fuse box ..
