Well the svt is like 3/4 of an inch already, so just find a good set and subtract 3/4". Any spring made for a 00-04 focus hatch will work.

 

No. Cutting springs is not an acceptable method of lowering a car.

Also, the SVT factory shocks are not rated to be run at anything other than factory ride height. If you're going to lower your car, do it properly with a matched set of springs and dampers.

Was trying to explain that you should pick up a set of propper sport springs to lower the car, and just subtract the svts drop from the listed drop on the lowering springs.

So a 2" drop will actually only drop the SVT 1.5-1.25" and a 1" drop will drop the SVT .5-.25" only.

Also, the statement about getting a correctly matched set of Springs and Struts is a very good one.

I read your statement as you should just cut the extra length from a set of regular Focus springs.

Sorry I did not interpret your intentions correctly. However, it is very hard to infer what people are thinking given only text in reply box.

You are correct about needing to get a good set of springs. The stock SVT dampers WILL NOT work with anything lower. Sure they may do the job for a while, but they will wear out prematurely and you will risk damaging your suspension as a result.

I think we can both agree, if you are going to lower your car, wait and do it properly. Never piecemeal something as important as a suspension set up.

 

Didn't mean to start a little battle over the finer details of suspension.

I will basically look for springs that list as lowering 1.5 inches so I will end up with .75 inches of drop as the SVT springs are already .75 lower than a standard focus

Eibach Prolines are very similar spring rates as the svtf springs and will drop the svtf about .75" fornt/rear as they have a 1.5" drop of stock focus springs and they are progressive rates.
i beleive svt spring rates are as follows
front - aprrox 125-130 in/lbs
rear - approx 155-160 in/lbs

and eibach proline rates are as follows
front - approx 130-135 in/lbs
rear - approx 170-175 in/lbs
