ok i posted this in shift it but not many people seem to go in there and i've always got outstanding responses in the trusty svt forums so i am going to repost, hope no one minds... well, here goes...

ok, once again, my 2003 SVTf (with 24k miles on it) is broken! about a month or 2 ago i was posting in here about my clutch burning up around 22k mile mark, with it the flywheel glazed over and i was stuck witout a car for like 2 weeks. i got the clutch and flywheel replaced, at MY expense. they wouldn't warranty it, ugh, what BS. so i have the dealership install a CM stage 4 and a cm alum flywheel at the same price as the stock setup (bought the parts from tom). anyways... i get my car back, all running good, and then BAM today going to work i all of a sudden cannot shift... i'm STUCK in 3rd gear! so i coast to work, pop the hood and fiddle with it to see what's up... looks like the little arm thing at the back of the engine compartment that attaches to the shift linkage cable (i think) is wobbly and won't engage correctly. the linkage cable looks fine, not super tight and stretched, not loose... looks like the arm mechanism itself is jacked up.... maybe i am wrong, i don't know much of anything about drivetrain stuff. anyways, the shifter feels like its kind of in neutral, it wobbles side to side real loose like but i cannot move it up in anyway, it slides down towards me kind of where 4th would be but it just slides in and out, dosn't change anything because no matter where the shifter is sitting it's still in 3rd gear (yeah i drove home 20 miles on the hwy at like 45mph in 3rd gear, fun times). i took the car to the dealership and they won't be able to even look at it until tuesday. now... what would you guys feel the problem is? and, would it be covered under warranty? i have the extended warranty plan but am scared the stupid thing won't be covered like my clutch and flywheel. thanks for all your help!

sorry for writing so much!

Hey man, I would seriously call ford and have them deal with this Dealership, POOR quality work (IT SHOULD NOT MOVE SIDE to SIDE AT ALL) And yes it WAS covered under warranty VIA TSB 4-19-08 or whatever it was (Pre-mature clutch failure/Knocking) Then I would make them fix it now and give you ALL your money back for the work they made you pay for. (Also make sure they understand that your warranty is not voided because the dealership LIED to you) DON'T deal with the Dealership. Explain it to a FORD represenetive. Im sure they will take care of EVERYTHING for you. Just make sure to be extremely polite to the Ford rep.

Little scetchy on the Arm looks jacked up. It should swing from driverside to passanger side a little. Maybe 1/4 an inch at most. It hangs down about one and a half inches and in the middle goes towards the firewall about 1/3 of an inch.

what was the reason they revoked your warranty in the first place? there is a TSB out for the clutch and flywheel. my suggestion is definitly make ford pay for the damages they inflicted on your vehicle because of their incompetence you should have to pay.

If you can move the shifter in big circles; then just snap the loose piece back on to the transmission. Remove the air box and look at the back of the transmission. You will see what is disconnected.

they wouldn't cover it because my car had over 12k miles on it.... i called SVT directly and they said well, if its even wear then pretty much u burned it out, like i don't know how to drive a manual transmission or something. pretty much the reason they said it's not covered under the TSB is because my clutch had "even" clutch wear, friggin lame.

If your shifter or the trans is messed up they should replace the transmission. The shift lever assemble has nothing to do with a clutch because it is not a wear item. There is a part in the tsb where it says if the input shaft is scored then replace the transmission.
