is there any way to make the SVT turn like my old sedan? I noticed it turns equal the my friends ****ic. (civic). struts the problem? what can I change to make it turn sharper? I'm in a neighbourhood with tons of back lanes and tight turn streets. and I like to back into my driveway. this is my first manual car and I can't believe how fast this car goes in reverse o.0 lol

any tips? anyone done this before? I googled it and no results..............

Nope.

The SVT turning radius is the size of a small country. Not sure why, probably the front knuckles, as the brakes at larger so the wheels can't be able to turn as tightly.

Get used to the three-point turn. It's the trade-off for the smiles in the turns.

Are you you going to use your car for any auto-x events?

The stock suspension is okay for daily spirited driving, but once you go beyond that and start to push the car it just falls over and you'll rub the top of your wheel wells.

If you have any interest in auto-x I strongly suggest going aftermarket. A full coil-over setup isn't needed, just slightly stiffer springs and better dampers.

Yup - All you need to do is swap racks, not even the pump, they are the same w/ different lines.
I don't recommend it as you will barely get any benefit with the tire size that is on the car. (And it turns JUST fine the way it is.)

After playing with a couple different setups, I could do JUST AS MUCH, if not more with the STOCK SVT Springs and Dampeners.
Except when you go to coil overs, the rest is just a waste of money and makes the back end "happy" which MOST people can't handle anyways.

So you weren't worried about the tires rubbing when you took a hard, sustained corner?

My car just falls over and I get serious noise when I take a corner at 9/10ths or more.

Would those poly bushings help keep it all in check without going to a full coil over setup?

The svt rack has a different ratio than a regular focus. Because of the PERFORMANCE ratio the lock to lock is shorter than a regular focus resulting in a bigger turning radius. I perfer the quick steer of the svt rack for track days and canyon runs

I dunno bud. I definitely recall seeing something in the SVT literature back when these were new that said something about a revised ratio. I'm looking for it now but I can only find a wiki article about and we all know how accurate Wikipedia is.

We've been over this one ad nauseam in this forum - the only differences between the two racks are the steering stops. The SVT gets it's unique steering feel because it has less power assist, not a different ratio in the rack.
