Just wondering what you all think of using SVT intake manifold for engines with more mods to take advantage of intake characteristics for better low/top (short/long intake "modes") end???

better idea to just go with the early 2000 mani and spend the saved money and time on other stuff.

Ok for most only going N/A like stage 2 cams and maybe a ported head I see the 2000 intake a valid buy for that approx. power levels (130-150whp). But I'm talkng about someone that would be planning on taking her up to like 8k rpm or so and is aiming at 180-200 whp, then I see the SVT manifold as a better idea because you get a little help down low with longer runners and switch at about 5,300-5,500 to shorter runners for much better top end. It makes the most sense for street/strip motor to me anyway.

What about the rest of you all what are your thoughts???

It's not unheard of, but it's not a simple bolt-on. You will need a way for the intake runners to switch from low to high at a particular RPM, and you'll need a tune to take advantage of the enhanced airflow.

Do a search (with Google if necessary) - it's been done, and it's slick when it's working properly. I'd love to have it on my Focus.

Focussalvage do you have a write up or any instuctions, as well as pricing available??

Easily done. All you need is a window switch.

prob is, w/the known issue of the DSI cable mount breakin regardless of various braces and patch fixes. on the SVT they still get some warranty, if u throw it on ur zetec. and it goes, ur spendin the time to change the manifold and plunkin down 4 another 1.

buy an early style. if u want more, go more than 1 atmosphere.

You no longer have to buy the complete manifold. Ford sells the DSI lever separately for under $30 (I think).

OK the real question is how much is a SVT manifold and is it hard to find out of a salvaged car or a used one for that matter??? I'm thinking this might be the best way to optimize power through out the curve for street use on Comp cams stage 3's.

This has been a well discussed an argued item on the forums since we did the swap going on 2 years ago.....the higher the cam you go, the farther the car is going to want to pull in the RPM range, so going with a stage three cam, you power band with an 00 intake is going to be running out sooner than an SVT intake.....thus marking the more radical cam less effective.....best cam to use with the 00 intake is a FR 2(or comparible)......just letting you know what I've experienced first hand, not speculation......

^ is that because of the short runners in the 00 style intake..well im glad i have frIIs, cuz thats what i ordered was the 00 intake...seems to be the only one that doesnt cost an arm and a leg to get

for anyone that his done this before, please post a write-up or give directions... I do look forward to doing this some time soon. a lot of people could benefit from this option.

yeah i'm looking up some info on this too.......if it could be done, would it make power gains then the normal ported 00 intake manifold? will any bottom end be suffered, but better up top? or just better all around?

i would figuere that its would hurt the bottom end a little and the top end would flawless, thats on my understand but with a chip and some nice 4-2-1 headers youll have no problem with bottom end being hurt
