your right there between 80-100 from steve. The shop i use here in VA costs just as much as a ford dealership would (around 65/a hour ) thats all i was asking really was if what some of your ideas were about either doing it yourself or letting the garage do it.

im gonna order me a set here in a little while that way i may have them by fri, or mon.

IIRC when I ordered them they were about $85. Install took a couple of hours, and was a bit of a pain to do on jack stands, but it wasn't impossible.

The hard part was tearing apart the center console to get to where the grommet bolts to the chassis on the inside. Also it helps to unbolt the cat from the header and the flex pipe from the rear exhaust section to get access to the hole where the cables run through the chassis.

I did my 1st set late last summer, with a lift and full shop at my disposal. I'd say the job was pretty easy overall, but a pain in the butt to do the 1st time! If you've got a lift you DO NOT need to drop the exhaust(just remove hangers and pull heat shield down, you can work around it). The dash and cutting the carpet is by far the worst part, good luck not breaking a few of the tabs on the "air box" trying to remove it. If you can get it done for $100, it might be worth it. If you want or need to do it yourself, it won't kill you.

yeah, they just replaced (saltville auto, va) a tranny/ stg II clutch and flywheel , installed all new seals , etc. for me a couple of month's ago ( over 1,000 miles so far, no probs. with everything) . So, id say they can get it done without "CUTTING" MY CARPET!!! Iam no perfectionist , but i want it "done right", ya no??????- But all jokes aside, they take there time, and after installing them the price will probably go up to $125-or so if it takes over the 2.2 hours theyre calling for. But the FORD manuel suggests 1.5 hours???? I dunno about that. You would have to be working to get it done that fast...lol..

Even a shop is gonna have to cut your carpet. Ford did not have shifter cable swap in mind when they assembled everything. The same goes for control arm bushing swap. Now THAT is a pain in the ass.

I'd say 1-1.5hrs is legit now that I've done it once and know where I'm going. That's w/o removing exhaust and for sure using a lift.
