I stumbled across this on Ebay just now, an OBX brand header styled like a stock SVT header. Has anyone else seen this?

For auction is a brand new OBX stainless steel race header for the 02-04 FORD FOCUS SVT ZX3/ZX5. This will only fit the SVT model using the 2.0L Zetec engine. This race header is a replacement for the stock header. This utilizes larger primaries over the stock header to improved exhaust flow while retaining a tri-y design to retain good engine response. Included is a new upper gasket that goes between the cylinder head and header. Like all OBX headers, this too is backed by their lifetime warranty program.

It's too bad they just copy stuff.

Extending the collector to mate with a std zetec flex would have been a better product.

After all why would anyone buy an aftermarket header thats a copy of what you have stock?

Cool. A used factory SVT one is cheaper. I bought one off of here and got it ceramic coated for about that same price total.

Notice there are also no dents in the primaries like on the true Cosworth SVT design.

b/c its stainless
So is the SVT one. It's just lower grade so it rusts a bit. I was able to take the rust off with alcohol. It will be interesting to see how many base Zetec owners buy this and run into problems with their dipstick tube, P/S line and cat.

Cheaper than OEM would be my guess...or Ford's supply is eventually going to dry up since the header is for an "obsolete" engine no longer in production, exacerbating the "cheaper than the OEM part" issue.
What I was getting at is if you have an SVT why would you replace your stock header with an inferior copy? I suppose there is a very, very, very very, very, very very, very, very small market to replace damaged stock SVT headers.

The market to make money from is is fitting the SVT header to a standard zetec. Thats where a small extension of the collector and a two bolt flange would have been full of win.

This header? Sure there's still a market, now you can buy an SVT style header and the McNews mid pipe for the same price as the OEM header alone.

OBX offers some good stuff, some not so good, and if I wanted to keep an SVT style header on my car, i'd pick that one up instead of Jet Hot coating the factory mani.
If this OBX header is like any others the high polish appearance will eventually wear off. I have an OBX 4-2-1 header that was on the car for three years and its developed a light coat of rust similar to what happens with a SVT header. If you want coated appearance there's really no alternative...

Sure...but eventually that supply is going to dry up as Ford has a finite number of SVT headers on hand. If this ever turns out to being a big seller for OBX will depend on how soon Ford's supply dries up, or runs short enough that prices go through the roof, and how long people continue to modify Zetec-powered cars.

If anything its a win for Zetec owners...it'll keep the OE part prices in check as I'm sure retailers would rather make a smaller profit than not sell at all.

thhey look nice.. wonder how they perform?
It should perform just an OEM SVT header. As far as I can tell from the pic and from OBX's "r&d" (ie just copying a design).

My comments about what could have done have more to do with OBX not really being a "tunning" company but just a source for chinese copies of other peoples parts.

This is an OEM SVT header copy. Note it's not a copy of the FR retrofit header. There is NO EGR bung.

true, but the EGR technically "hurts" power in most cases, so they are basically forcing you to get a tune and delete it, thus gaining you even more power than just the header upgrade. it's completely unintentional, and just a way for them to save time/money, but hey, it's still a decent piece for what you're paying IMO

Don't forget the all the extra parts to connect it to the rest of your exaust.

That probably won't work. A Zetec ORP won't mate to any flexpipe if you use an SVT header. It's a lot more work than people think.
Which gets to where OBX missed a great opportunity, A ready made direct bolt in SVT header to regular Zetec kit.

Of course they don't do ANY r&d. They simply copy an exsisting piece, in the case an OEM SVT header. I'm sure the folks at OBX are totaly unaware of any of the issues brought up in this thread.
