Ford, GM, and Daimler-Chrysler probably all lobbied in together to make sure that pickup trucks won't be subject to the new 2008 EPA testing like all other passenger vehicles.

I knew they were popular, but had no idea they were actually the top selling vehicles of each manufacturer. And why are people buying up all those craptastic Impalas... *eck*

large Portion of Impala sales are to fleets, thus the over inflated sales numbers,

The Ford F-Series has actually been the best-selling vehicle on earth for decades. I think it only lost its crown for a month or two during the recent gas crises.

That's Great that Ford Still Can Sell them, They Better Watch out tho, I just got to Ride in a NEW 08 tundra today, and it stomps Ford, Chevy, Dodge AND Nissan.

Loyalty is KEY in the truck market.

idk if it stomps the whole line up of the F series, is it better than the 150? maybe. But if you are looking for a truck, something that can tow, and do all kinds of work loads in the 250-450 pickup range, the tundra will be lost. The tundra has no diesel, no dually option, no heavy duty market in actuallity and those are big things not too have in the truck market, But it will compete in the F150 lineup, but doubt it will get past that.

Toyota has a relatively modest first years sales forecast of 200,000 Tundras. I think they know its going to take time to become a major player in the truck market....but they are advertising hard to make it happen. I think its no surprise that the truck is being built in Texas and happens to come with a 5.7L motor. Toyota is taking on GM and Ford on their home turf with familiar specs.

I had a question. When was the last time Ford sold less than 800,000 F-series? I'd have to guess its been many years.

I only Meant the F-150, Sorry Should have clarified that ;)

The New Tundra can tow over 10,000 LBS !! (5.7L V-8)
It has 381 Hp and 401 TQ Were looking at almost 3/4 ton Pickup #'s From a 1/2 Ton P/U !!

I'm Not a toyota guy but I do work for a toyota store, and toyota IMO didn't realy have a "Fullsize" Truck till now.

The new 150 will blow out the tundra in a couple years, then they'll be playing catch-up again. It's the only segment ford does right. is this 30 or 31?

Also, think about it. the f150 stands unchanged since 04 when it came out as an 05. Just now it's getting competition, 2-3 years later. I really wish it worked that way for the rest of ford's products.

30.

Ford needs to speed that up to keep that title though.

The new F-50 goes on sale next Summer. Its also the only pickup to have a serious redo less then 7 years, which is the last time that the Silverado was updated. The new Hurricane/Boss is supposed to go into production this summer, it seems like Ford is very serious about protecting the F-150 against all comers..hopefully some of that knowhow makes it into their passenger car market also.

The new Tundra isn't all that also..even Magazine rags are saying that. The interior is CHEAP from the reviews I've seen. They also have said the new Silverado is a better truck, but yet thats only reached what the F-150 has been since 2004.

I may actually go to the F series world in 2 years. Im pretty brutal on cars and I dont see the zx3 lasting that long. Old man winter here doesnt like cars either.

Now that I think about it I see TONS of new f-series pickups in town, way more than Chevy and Dodge.

I'm thinking 650, if i can ever afford it. its the truck to end all. price is high and gas mileage is more like gallons per mile but i assume since its based on comercial specs that it would last forever. its a while off anyway.

on the more realistic side of things a 250.

I don't know about that. I just saw the new Toyota truck for 2007. It was amazing. It's a totally different animal. I normally would only by a Ford Truck… but not in this case.

There’s a new slogan that Toyota has…. “Prove it” and they will.

It will be the only truck on the market with a 4 piston caliber disc brakes, 6-speed auto with triptronics shifting, the biggest rear gear in it’s class, biggest factory tow hitch, and etc.

Uhhh....I own a current body style 2004 F150.

In 04 they sold the new style F150 alongside the outgoing F150 renamed Heritage

I really likes the Impalla LTZ I had as a rental car, I like its kinda "im kinda a big accord" look without the slowness of it. The car had good power and a nice interior if not a bit boring dash wise (im used to the focus and a bonneville SSEI which have no borning point)

I had it as a rental, as far as I know there are over 60 thousand rental impallas and about that or more in Cobalts.

They stoped purchasing foci for some reason the rental dude told me.
