Dollar for dollar a throttle body and intake is really going to be your best bet.

 

does anyone else have this problem with there zx3 focus?

bogging under WOT is what makes a Focus a Focus.

^^^^they just told you how LOL, and i have the same problem on my 04 zx3 hehe but im completly stock, im just runin open header hehehe

 

so get a new throttle body will solve this problem, so what is the new one got mine doesnt? other than its bigger, can i make the one i got work better? or is porting all i can do to help that out. but i thought i read somewhere that even if you port the one it comes with it still has poor throttle responce? is this true?

 

Porting it involves shaving the interior of the stock to make it larger.

The larger the hole, the more air it sucks in, the faster the engine response.
Aftermarket TB are 65mm while stock is like 50(ish)mm, big difference, you will notice how big they look compared to stock. And trust us, when you put a 65mm tb on, you will have to re-learn how to press your gas pedel. Response time is a lot faster.

 

I ported mine and I love it! Use a dremel and some JB weld and you're set!

throttle response is as different as night and day when you have a 65mm TB on.

a tap on the gas:

stock: 200 rev raise
65mm: 800-100 rev raise.

its hard to drive a focus now withgout spinning the tires HELLA

 

Yea, I just put my 65mm TB on and even though the RPMs stick and hang(I'll fix it one day) the throttle response is really nice, but the pedal is super soft now and I spin the wheels all the time in 1st.

 

wont engine mounts help with this as well? or is that more shifting that it helps with

 

engine mounts help the engine from moving as much. it's good for when you want to shift hard, doesn't mean you won't break the tires free, feels much better though

 

no joke...what gave the biggest differance for me was adding a race header.

Between the Underdrive, Ported TB and Solid Rear Mount it made a nice difference. You are looking at some low cost mods to make your car alot nicer to drive.

my FC came with very good instructions i was impressed i just didnt like the functionality of the tb from fc im prolly going to go with BBK in the future
