I Need Advice Please! Read Please?

Hey guys. I currently have an 05 focus zx4 (flowmaster catback, tint, steeda cold air, votgland springs, 18" konig hot swaps, and projector angel eye headlights) babied to death and wanting to possibly buy it out right or trade?

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=228626288&dealer_id=56102805&car_year=2001&rdm=1239581089976&model=FOCUS&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1999&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=25&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=n&make=FORD&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=34689&advanced=y&end_year=2002&doors=&transmission=Manual&max_price=&cardist=23&standard=false

the overall paint is in good shape, just the WB viynl is flaking off (dnt care, if purchased planning on getting new paint). The things got magnaflow exhaust, slotted and drilled brakes, CAI, lowered, 17" rims, headers, nice system, nos (I knw gotta look out for the engine with that) nice looking body kit ( though there are two small pressure cracks on left and right side of back fender, the wing is a primed black, and a lil of the body kit mesh is bowed) it only has 31,000 miles if you click the link, I drove the car shifts very smooth (expected for only 31,000 miles+ bein a ford!)

tho since it's been sitting on the lot for a while the battery had to be jump started cuz no juice, yet the only problem I noticed when driving is when idling the idle is sporatic (bubbles a bit) I asked the guy and he says that's only cuz it's been sitting for a while (bad gas? needs an oil change?) is he right or could it be something else? it makes sense the idle is a lil jumpy due to sitting but still a bit hesitant.

To be frank, I love focuses and I love fords. I've been wantin to dwnsize from a four door to a hatch or coupe for a lil while...my car is pretty much mint(besides inevitable swirls) and looks sexy, nuttin wrong wit it..just want somethin smaller with more done to it so all I need to fork out is a supercharger or turbo.

Of course before I buy I will insist on taking it to my dealership (who has been servicing my family for years so they all knw me and my last name) to do a full engine check and inspection to see if there are any surpsrises. But I've looked at hondas, hyundais, mazdas, nissans and everything else but my heart is set on the focus. I would really love to hear everyone's input..I see potential in this car..just hopin a lil body work is all it needs.. please give me input on what you think..oh and my car has 65,500 miles on it.

I wouldn't buy a modified car.

It's kind of a gamble. You never know the quality of work... and 98% of the time, if someone modified it, they beat on it pretty good aswell to make use of the mods.

I would safe the money and headache and just buy a used, stock Focus.

A zx3 isn't much smaller than a zx4, just a bit shorter right? So it's not really downsizing. If you like the looks better that's one thing, but if you already have a Focus why trade for an unknown car?

I bought mine with a number of mods ( I was in a hurry and it was the best I could find) and luckily most mods seem to have been done well, but I agree with ZX3autoxtasy that a modded car will likely have been driven hard. Our tranny/diff just started acting up, something I wouldn't expect at 90k miles and which leads me to believe the previous owners drove it hard.

I'd definitely pass on anything with nitrous.

Cliffs: Keep your car - it's a known quantity - and modify it.

from the looks of it... i wouldnt go for it...

for one... 7k on a body kit?? wrong.... maybe on having the body kit purchased, installed, and having the whole car painted....

2nd... nitrous bottle is mounted improperly... should be facing with the output towards the front of the car IIRC.... and i strongly doubt its been babied.... why would you put a car on the bottle and not use it?(note the fact that its also setup with a bottle blaket and a remote opener...)

the idle issues could be many different things... could be the fact that it sat for so long... could be cam timing off... could be an internal engine problem.... could be something really easy but then again... COULD be something rather pricey.... damaged sparkplugs due to nitrous use is also a good possibility...

i would keep what you have and build it the way you want it... that way you dont waste your time fixing other people's junk... been there and done that

if its what you want then go for it man. i personally wouldnt buy it either simply due to the fact that it has nitrous and the fact that the person who had it was an idiot and probably didnt know how to properly and safely use it. this is implied by the fact that the bottle is facing the wrong way. anyone with common sense out nitrous would know this. if i were you and the car never had that nitrous i would be on the fence about whether to buy it or not but seeing that would make me say NO. find an 05-07 zx3 that is bone stock and transfer the mods on the zx4 over to it. im sure the dealership wouldnt have a problem in the world with you reverting your zx4 car back to stock using the stock parts from the car he just sold you. it would make it easier to sell. and the parts would be interchangable as long as they both have the same engine. the exhaust is the only thing that is a maby
