But I still don't get why most peeps that I know that run turbos end up spending over $10K for it?

Because those people don't know any better.
Who is this referring to? Because as far as I know I'm the only one who spent near what I did for a turbo, and that was because I wanted to. I want the kit done a certain way. So the reason I spent the money I did is because I KNEW better not that I didn't know. I wanted it done a certain way. I dont like Toms kit. I HATE his intercooler, and I do not like how his piping is routed at all.

PLus I wanted a water cooled turbo that spooled relatively quick for my car, but I also wanted the option to go for large power later. So I have a GT28RS modified with a T3 housing, so I can jump to a T3 turbo at any time if I want to go for a monstor dyno queen. This gives me a bb turbo to make up for the larger A/R and the water cooling that I wanted.

EVERYTHING I have done was for a purpose. I thought it out. I'm honestly getting sick of people knocking those who decide to spend the money. At least I did it the way I wanted to. If you did a bargain turbo setup, fine, enjoy the money you saved. To me I wanted my piping run a certain way. I wanted an intercooler that worked for my setup with room to grow without becoming an obstruction, which I consulted with Gerhard Schruf, and my intercooler was his design. Plus I have all gauges and safety equipment I could ever need, so I will always know whats going.

Anyone who knows me personally knows I like data. So I want to know whats going on. If you think I spent to much, kiss my ass.

Well actually I like to think of it, that I hate everyone equally

One side note, if you think I spent to much. Please build me a kit that has EVERYTHING I want for less. But keep in mind. This is MY kit. Nobody has a setup like mine, and that is my goal as well. It might not matter to everyone to be different, but it mattered to me.

bela: I was just speaking in general, not toward you. You know you could have built your turbo setup for 1/3 the cost, but you had particulars and wanted everything to be top notch.... that is the route you wanted to go. My point was that most people who are throwing on turbo kits don't realize how easily a moderately powered setup can be thrown together, not OMG LOOK AT BELA WHAT A WASTE! ;-)

If I wanted to pick a turbo'd svt right now, it would be yours without a doubt. Even with its current 'issues'.

I like David's kit design, btw.

I'm not talking about the "one-offs" like Belacyrf, or Fastraxturbo.

I'm talking about the attempts at "mass produced" kits.

David and Jon spend money on mega personalized kits for a simple reason: Because they can.

I have no problem with that.

(and yah... I've already gotten 2 emails from Tom...)

This thread is a joke. I am glad people can stab someone in the back that cannot come and voice his opinion.

Bottomline Tom does it on the Dyno and at the track. I have seen it first hand.
Who has made more power on more cars and who has built more cars that run fast at the track.

NO ONE. He has done alot of good for many here. I am sure many of you that come face to face with Tom would talk to him with there tail between there legs.

I am all for voicing opinions but do it some where someone can say there part.

I AM ALL FOR TOM BEING BACK ON THIS SITE.

If this thread is going to continue it should really be based on this post I made earlier:

"If you are going to compare kits it should be non intercooled vs. non intercooled or intercooled vs. intercooled. We aren't offering an intercooled version just yet, so the only comparison that makes any sense is 91 octane, non intercooled blower vs. turbo."

As it is, this thread is just spinning out of control and heading towards lockdown since it's seems to be getting personal now.
