Okay, here's a question for you all since I have never done anything with mounts on any of my previous cars. Are you doing the passenger mount only, or are you doing the rear mount as well? Is there an advantage to doing just one, or eventually all three?

Also, does anyone know how do the FocusSport mounts compare in function and feel to the Prothane mounts? I'm pretty sure the prothane mounts are inserts into the original metal holders on the focus, but you can get them for $20. Is it even worth considering the $20 Prothane mounts for a temporary change or would it be better to save for the FocusSport mounts?

I don't want too much vibration, but I'd like to feel more from the engine and loose some of the "slosh" under acceleration.

Sounds to me like if you going to do the passenger side mount it maybe best to do all 3, but not wanting a lot of Vibration I don’t think you would want to do that. I would say just do the lower one (Dog bone) I tell ever one I meet that should be one of the first things they do. As for the Prothane inserts I’m not sure how they compare but installation will take a lot more time. And some time ease of installation is worth the extra money.

Also we are starting to see reports of the inserts breaking or popping out of the stock mount. So be careful with that.

Unfortunately, anyone who doesn't want vibration should avoid mounts altogether. But if you want a more connected feel, you add the mounts. The passenger mount (as of now) vibrates alot.. so I can see people passing on it. But I also love the connected feel to the engine and I love this mount. It's wierd how you can like something so much that rattles your car like it does. But I do.

Bri makes a good point about the lower mount. The dogbone will add minimal vibration (which will most likely go away after a long while as it breaks in), but it will help a little toward the goal of getting rid of the slosh feel and giving you a little connection to the car. It's a start.

Hey Alf,

I would wait until the drivers side mount comes out, that will minimize the vibration from changing out just the passenger side, and probably give a lil bit better engine stability. You will notice one hell of a difference replacing the stock "slosh" to the VF "no-slosh"

These mounts are actually made by VF Engineering, not FocusSport. VF makes the complete replacement, which is what I would go for, not the Prothane mounts... Save the money up and go for VF.

Hope this helps...

Now wheres my sponsorship VF??

Thanks for the info everyone. Looks like I'll wait for the driver's side mount to come out. I spend enough time making long (125mi) trips that I think the vibration might get annoying from what you are saying. I don't like how soft the current mounts are and want a more solid feel, but I don't want too much vibration either.

Looks like I'll be doing the ORP this month instead.

Put on the Focus Sport (VF enginering) passenger side motor mount this morning. First impression. NICE!!!

One can definately feel the vibrations but it is liveable(sp).

When is the drivers side going to be released???
