WELL I WAS JUST WONDERING IF FORD COMPANY WOULD EVER ACTUALLY MAKE ZETEC LIKE VETEC SO THAT YOU GET LIKE 20HP BOOST FROM 5 1/2 TO 7/5 OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT
The ZX2 has exhaust cam timing... which supposedly was not a power mod. I suppose some Contours may have had it as well, though I've never seen one.actually there were zetecs in the contours that had intake cam timing i believe. heard about it a while ago, don't remember where, but i think it was decided that it wouldn't be worth it to swap heads.
That and the dual stage intake manifold gave the SVT a somewhat similiar effect as VTEC does in the Hondas. But it's definitely not the same.Well, the SVT Focus had variable cam timing on the intake cam but that's about as close as the Zetec ever got.
I really don't think so, but eh....i guess it coulda been the escorts i was thinkin of, i knew that a previous model car that used zetec had some form of variable intake timing.
Right on!Actually... most of us DO know all that...
But as for a smooth transition... The center lobe is either engaged or not... It is binary. You can't smoothly engage the center lobe.![]()
..and "variable valve timing" has nothing to do with other profiles.. "timing" means advance and retard only... variable LIFT is what the center lobe does.
you guys really have no clue what Vtec is do u?
leave it to someone else named Evan to flame the n00bsI DOUBT IT. ZETEC IS JUST A NAMESAKE.OH AND BY THE WAY. THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON IS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF YOUR KEYBOARD, NEXT TO THE A KEY.
just joshin wit ya man, but really, I dont think theyll do that anytime soon
[censored]... I'd be surprised to just see a high-end focus. Period.I would not be suprissed to see a high end focus with valve timing.
you guys really have no clue what Vtec is do u? i love when peple say i can feel my vtec kick in, or i want the 20hp boost when vtec kicks in,
you dont want to "FEEL" vtec, if you have your honda tuned right it will be a smooth transition to the different lobes of the cam, and you wont FEEL anything, but you will hear a difference in how the exhaust tone is...
If you have vtec or vvt in a honda or toyota and you can "feel" the cams swithing to the higher performance lobes, then you have major problems, and your car is very very poorly tuned.
oh, and vtec is variable valve timing, which means the cams have more than one lobe profile on them, and at whatever rpms your vafc turns ur vtec on, it switches to a higher lift higher rpm profile for making power in high rpms... how do you think hondas rev to 8k and are streetable?
Hondas are for pussies... be a real man, buy some big ass cams to pull to 8k+ and have a huge lopey idle,
and VCT is no where near vtec, it is nothing like it, and is pretty much useless, VCT was NEVER put on a car for a power adder except the SVTF. it was for emissions on all other cars.
And VTEC on SOHC hondas is also usless, its for emissions purposes... nothing more...
