Hopefully this is the right place to put this up.

Re: Facebook Haines Motor Sports

It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Terry Haines. He passed away on Thursday, February 11th. Please keep his wife Penny and their family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Those who have been fortunate to have known Terry or work with Terry have lost a dear friend. He will be profoundly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

Terry played a very big part in both the Focus and Contour communities. His tag on the forums was Kogbox King and he was always very helpful. He is known for his expertise on the mtx75 gearbox which he not only rebuilt but also helped develop. I was hoping to eventually meet him at one of the shows as he seemed like a great and interesting man who I always enjoyed talking on the phone with.

He will be greatly missed!

It's sad to hear of the loss of such a legend. RIP.

Does anybody know how old he was?

Just saw this looking up Terry's contact. Very very sad to hear this. Terry built a race MTX75 for me a couple of years ago and it performed superbly. Great guy to talk to and incredibly knowledgeable.

Rest in peace Terry.

I've had contact on and off with Terry for the last 13 years or so and have owned a few of his transmissions, I really hate knowing that he's gone.

A properly good man and a superb transmission builder.

When there was nothing but a bunch of ricers on here who could barely afford bolt ons and turbo kits were too far out of reach, he still offered up his knowledge knowing full well 99% of the community would never be buying anything from him.

Even when that shifted and more people needed his parts or work he still helped everyone he could without charging or telling them to send it to him, he could diagnose a trans problem with impossibly little information and be right on the money every time.

Don't even get me started how much longer my transmissions would last after I finally started listening to his fluid suggestions.

We never deserved a person as good as Terry at what he did, but he deserves our respect for how he lived his life, shared his knowledge and ran his business

Terry built the transmission in my '05 ST years ago! Kog Box treatment, 4.06 FDR, Quaife LSD, the thing was a work of art. I beat on the car every day and did numerous HPDE's and the transmission never missed a beat. It was probably the best part of the whole car honestly. RIP for a talented and generous man.
