I don't think this is a cross post, if it is, please lock it.

I was wondering what kind of aftermarket batteries you guys use?

I've seen a lot on here about Hawker, how are they compared to the factory one now?

Any other batteries I should look at?

I'd like a yellow or red top b/c they're sealed and don't need any maintenance. But I don't like how its not a direct drop in replacement.

never had a problem with my hawker batt, just make sure you get the terminal posts

I have been looking at smaller dry cells also.

The Hawker G16EP and Odyssey PC680 batts are the same, and the Odyssey seems to run less expensive ($80).

Check out this site discussing these batteries in detail.

Also, on the west coast batteries site there are some good hold down options.

The cranking amps (680) seems more than enough for the focus, but the cold cranking amps is low (mid 200's).

I would be curious if anyone in colder climates has used the Hawker/Odyssey batteries. Would save a lot of room in the engine compartment.

I use a odyssey (made by hawker, only it's red) works just like my factory battery, never left me stranded even in the cold. I bought it off odysseyworld on ebay paid about $75-80 shipped. There great to deal with as I have bought others off them for my mototcycles. Good luck, Scott

PS the part # is PC680 just go to ebay search and type in PC680

Was it a direct drop in, no moving wires around and lenghtening them or anything?

cuz if so, i might just buy it now.

The PC680 is only a fraction of the size of the stock battery. It will not just drop in, you need hold downs (see my earlier post). Should not be a big deal however.

Arg, lol.

Who uses the hawker/oddessy batteries and has the mount? Was it easy to install? Any problems with cable length?

Check out www.focus-power.com for a NICE holder for the Hawker battery.

I just ran a red top optima in the spare tire well, wired it with 2ga arc wire from the welding shop. We mounted a 6$ battery box in the well from wal mart and got the long battery posts to bolt it down, driled through the well to the outside using a piece of cut metal for the tie down.

agreed. I'd like to mount it in the engine bay were the stock battery is.

I got a question:

For you guys running the Optima series of batteries, yellow red, how are you mounting them and how are you dealing with the wiring?
I had my red top in the factory location for a while. Didn't take much to get the wires to fit right. Hell you could even use the stock wires.

you might have to move the wires a little to get them to fit, (ie, remove some of the tape holding them back), but i had no problems whatsoever.

if you get one and cant get it to work, PM me or IM me (noth55) and we'll walk thru it.
