Quoted from Terry Haines over at FordContour.org...:

DO NOT USE ATF OR EP type oils in ANY MTX-75*
*Friction mod is not needed....unless 'you' have an issue with the lube...Stay away from it if you can*

*MY Choice of lubes in decending order:-

1. Motorcraft 'Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid # XT-M5-QS ('honey')

2. Royal Purple 'Syncromax'

3. AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-40 European Motor Oil

4. (General) A Full Synthetic 5W-40 Diesel Engine oil...which includes:-

Mobil Delvac 1, 5w40 (full synthetic, a reformulated version of Mobil 1 which is intended for diesel engines)
Chevron Delo 400, 5w40 (full synthetic version)
Shell Rotella T (full synthetic version, not to be confused with Rotella SB synthetic blend or regular Rotella T non-synthetic)

and why to never use ATF:

I've always wondered why RP syncromax is good enough but the amsoil Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid isnt , and they say to use the 5w40 motor oil....

Ford Honey is the only lubricant that "should" be used.
that is like saying you "Should" replace your tires with the same oem ones,
there is always room for improvement .

Not if its already the best :D
Exactly my thoughts, someone show me some long term results of a better lubricant. But until then use what is suggested.

Mercon V ONLY in the Power steering GII-GV (all ford power steering systems as of 90) and MOST Tranny's.

Check out the TSB's on the right to figure out which tranny uses which fluid.

Enjoy...and... NEVER use anything else in your tranny, if you want it to actually last...

Haha, i'm laughing to myself, as this is for the MTX75, wow, I should read, gooder, yeah...

I agree with wondering about the amsoil synchromesh. That's what I had my dad get me when he made an order a while back and is in the trans right now. Although mine is a 2000 MTX so its orig spec was ATF.
