If you have to use a screwdriver, make sure you punch it thru near the very top of the filter, so you don't drive it thru the center post. They should basically only go on hand tight (and even then, they are stubborn to remove!). Lightly oil the seal of your new filter with clean oil before putting it on...
Also, add some clean oil into the filter and let it soak thru before putting it in the car. This way, the engine doesn't have to wait for the oil (and spin 'dry'), while the pump is filling up the new filter with oil!
