You didn't read the qualifications... Dependable, Newer, Sporty.

None of those qualify on those grounds.

For me? It'd be a honda or toyota. Like a '98 Civic or a Corolla.

Those things can be run into the ground if well maintained.

No doubt about it I'd have either a '95ish 240SX eager for an SR20 swap, an '89 CRX Si for some cheap boosting entertainment, or a '98ish Civic hatch for some K20 love :evilgrin:

Well I wasn't including the K20 in that $5K price, just the car itself ;)

I think you read the "dependable, newer, sporty" stuff backward.
I was just saying what I would buy... Older 928's not so dependable, but sporty and still fast as hell, later model 944, kinks worked out, sporty, and still somewhat quick. Either of those could be had in decent condition for around $5k, but usually go for a bit more. I was really close to getting a 1957 356A, it was a complete shell, glass, and running motor, just really needed to be sanded down, painted, re-chromed, and re-upholstered. That was just over $6000, and when the restoration would be done, I would have a $30-$40k vehicle. Sorry, Porsche is my thing... got the Focus to curb my apetite for corners until I can afford a 911!

I keep gazing at sub-$5000 Focus wagons thinking I'd enjoy one as a fun daily driver...
Yep, thats what I would do. I actually could'nt find my dream Wagon, so I picked up a SVT Contour.

Those mx6's, is it batter to get the v6 or the four cylinder jobbies? I know that they are a twin to the probe, but I like the lines on the mx 6 better. Also does anyone have info for an mx 3? those look like a nissan nx with better front end.

I'd have to say 99/00 Cougar, but I'm biased...lol
:garage: +1!!

I'd say (in no particular order) for $5k or under I'd want

Jeep Cherokee 4.0I6 (for my forest-romping pleasure) - Put on a 6" lift, 33x10.5" tires, wide flares, snorkel, exhaust, etc...
Fox-body Mustang
Old School MkIII Supra
Another Cougar to try a RWD swap in

I know, whats "sporty" about a Cherokee? Well I think I call romping thru the forest, mud lakes, thru creeks, over trees, etc... is "sporty" to me...

Well it's almost settled. I think that I might get a infiniti g20. At 154000 miles, and in good condition for about $2500.
Anybody wanna put in some insight into this for me? I know that the car is a nissan product, has a 4 cylinder engine in it d20 i think... and has an automatic tranny.
Discuss.

It's settled. I bought the G20. It has some minor problems, but I think I can glean about 50-75000 more out of it. It has the good engine in it, and the tranny is automatic. I talked him down to 2300 and that is I think a good price. I guess that I can now say that JDM is mad tyte yo!
