Re: WWSCC AutoX events #1 & #2 March 23rd & 24th at Emerald Downs in Auburn, WA

Intermediate Street Tire (IST).

New Class Announcements!

At the January 2012 Solo committee meeting the Intermediate Street Tire class rule was passed. This class will be a great place for drivers who are new to autocross - it is eligible for a season championship, times are not paxed so there are no classing rules to deal with, and it is open to any street legal car running street tires. Please review the rule for driver eligibility requirements.

Intermediate Street Tire (IST): Two Intermediate Street Tire classes will be provided, one Open and one Ladies. Drivers eligible for this class will have less than 2 years of Solo competition experience. Participation will be at the discretion of the Solo Director or Manager. All cars meeting the following requirements will be eligible to compete: vehicles must be licensed and street legal, compete on DOT street-legal tires with a tread wear rating of 140 or greater, and pass the safety and tech inspection. Times will not be indexed. The year-end champion will not be eligible for this class in subsequent years.

I can't really commit to racing, with the hours am working rite now. I do work just down the street form Emerald downs and more than likely will stop in to see everyone.
I Promise to do more event's in the near future thou, am looking at seting the svt up for more events. More road course kind of stuff just not sure when.

I still need to get back to you about tuning questions when I get my act together. That'd certainly take up a couple of your free minutes. ;)

For anybody that things they MIGHT stop by and want to run next weekend, go ahead and pre-register. It'll make registration quicker and save you $5!

@Charles WA <-- I'm unsure what class to pre-register my car as. It's boosted with street tires.

If you don't have much autocross experience then Novice AM would be appropriate both days with Time Only PM (since you can't run Novice twice in one day). If you're only coming out for the afternoon then Novice PM is OK.

If you wanted to run the car in class then Open Street would be right. R-Compounds aren't required but are allowed in that class and they really help once you get the hang of them. If I run this weekend that's probably where I'll be running (on street tires).

I believe AM registration opens at 7:30 AM and PM at 11:30 AM. It's going to be a pretty busy weekend so don't be late!

Thank you for the insight. Yea, your probably right about the Novice class. I've only done one other event and that's what I did then too. Thanks a bunch.

Course was setup this afternoon and everything is pretty much ready to go for the morning. I've decided I'm not going to run the car this weekend. I'll be doing tech stuff in the tech area, taking photos, and filling in where the club needs more help. I hope to see some of you guys there this weekend!

I'm hoping to be there by about 7 tomorrow and Sunday mornings (which means I should be sleeping now!). Registration and tech open at 7:30. We ended up with 206 pre-registered entries for Saturday and 214 pre-registered for Sunday.

It was way fun, I had a blast. Saw some sweet cars and learned a thing or two about chasing cones. @CharlesWA, sorry I wasn't able to make it back out Sunday, got in way late Sat. night (well actually Sun. morning ~4am). I did check my axle nut later in the day Sunday and it was a bit loose. Good tech inspection. I tightened her up and its all good. Thanks again.

Good weekend. We had 150 entries Saturday and 171 Sunday if I'm remembering right. We're doing some post-event surveys to see what was liked and what could be better next time around, and of course if people would go back to the site. So far mostly positive.

XsyntaX - I'll hopefully have some time in about 2-3 weeks to get you info about the coilovers we talked briefly about.
