Bad design. I don't care how easy it makes the oil to change. You still have to pull the oil drain plug...

I'd heard that the Duratec would have a replaceable element rather than a spin-on oil filter. ??

Nice that the battery is migrating. They'll have
it right when it's on the firewall, ala Honda.
Less polar mass and out of the way in a crash.

where's the throttle body? in that box next to the manifold? i see the cable, but it goes into that box?

since the TB is now in front of the engine FOrd ahs smartly shrouded the entire unit, to prevent debris from entering the cable and stuff.

It looks like it uses the Mazda6;s intake manifold not the mondeo's. which looks like that caused the air box to be moved.

possible mods.

mondeo exhaust manifold.

I think the PZEV uses similar manifold to the escape HEV shown here.

also the shrouded engine in the modneo notice the airbox placement.

i notice a few things.

it looks like a rats nest with all those wires

where is the t/b

and get like 5 hrs of dyno time, cause the cam gears are under the valve cover.

I too don't like the disorgnaized look. But I guess its cheaper that way.

Say, by chance, do you know if these engines are going to find their way into sedans, or is it going to be hatches only?

It will be all non-SPI Foci, Wagons included.

EDIT: WOW!!! I guess the SPI is gone! I just checked the local dealer inventory, and EVERY Focus LX Sedan listed had the 2.3L.

FWIW, the inventory showed lots of 2.3L Foci in all body styles.

FWIW, the inventory showed lots of 2.3L Foci in all body styles.<hr /></blockquote>form no on all NON SVT foci sold in CA,NY and MA will be PZEV. the numbers are 50,000 for the 2003 MY.
