REVSWIN, you got me baffled on this one!! Replacement struts are available and can be bought from any H&R retailer! If you feel that the struts are warranty, you just need to send them in to have them inspected. If they are not warranty (miss-use, improper installation or abuse) then you can get replacement struts and we send the originals back to you.
What part is stripped? Do you have pictures?
Steve
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I have money in hand desparitely wanting to buy, but when I called H&R they tell me replacement parts cannot be obtained. I want you to name some retailers for me, because H&R surely couldn't. Also who told you they sell replacement parts? Because if I find out there are replacement parts I am going to call them and ask WTF I was not told!
The threaded post at the top of the front struts are stripped out. They could be left on the car because they still work, but you can throw the safety out the door. I could hear the front suspension components "moving" around during normal driving. When I uninstalled everything, the allowed movement of the struts wore an oblong shape into the plastic components guiding it into place. With time the worn hole got bigger, allowing more and more movement of the struts. The stripped out part of the threads is the area that traveled up from the strut all the way to where the top nut's tightened position. Eventually the thread post would have worn so thin it would have snapped. They are half way there already.
Now how this "movement" happened, I do not know. At least 15 people have looked at the car and can't figure it out either. H&R has no clue what the cause is either based on my descriptions. They said they cannot warrenty it because it is not faulty product, which I can understand. So I simply asked them where I could get new struts from, and the told me they ARE NOT SOLD SEPERATELY!!! I have been on the phone with them at least 10 times dating back to Sept. when I discovered the problem. Nobody has been able to tell me differently.
