FWIW, you can't remove Niteshades.
High grit sand paper and a plastic polish or semi abbrassive like scratch x works like a charm. I refurbed a ton of lenses for some folks across the pond. Hell I may have a stripped set or two in my garage still. If your really concerned yank the lense and tint from the inside. Just tint a shade or two lighter around the reflector.

If someone hasn't said this, I'll say it.

UNTINT THE THIRD BRAKELIGHT.

I had my lights blacked out forever, but the I never even noticed (neither did anyone else) that the third light wasn't blacked out.

Or just use a non-tinted 3rd brakelight.

Holy ****.

That couldn't have been more than 30 seconds or so apart.

There was no rule about that in the text of the law he showed me with his book (seeing it from the side, I mean).

I've got a couple ideas (yes, one of them is removing the tint on the 3rd brake light), but I'm waiting on some stuff to arrive in the mail :) You'll have to wait a few days for pics.

Ok here's an easy solution that won't look out of place and you can retain your FJ plate!

Purchase some reflective tape that's wide enough to cover the letters on the plate. Attach the tape over the letters and then use a blade to trim the excess tape around the letters leaving what was once white now red.

Problem solved.

I Didnt Read ALL Of The Posts But Why Not Do The Emblem Repaint And Put Red Reflective Tape Built Into The Badge Under The Ford And Clearcoat. Why Add When You Can MODIFY :D

Probably not the ideas you had in mind, but being a person often at odds with what most like to call the law, I made sure I had something on the car that would reflect since the European taillamps don't. The decals on the hatch glass (they line up with the lighted part of the taillamp) are WAY more reflector than I need and don't ask me why I haven't removed them yet, but it's an example of one idea. However the license plate frame has more than enough room and there are two little tiny strips just above the month and year stickers on my plate and below that black trim strip, you can hardly even see them in this pic but at night they are 'loud' enough to be seen from at least 200 ft (probably at least 100yds). Sorry I don't have a better sample pic. With a black car I'd imagine you wouldn't want to put any more on it than necessary.

Yep, beautiful as always, Rodewaryer :)

Although, I've decided to go with Option D) Sell the car -- so the issue in OP is now moot

I say just take off some of the tint to your tails and they should still reflect just fine.
