Any Jetters planning on going?

Looks like we're going to go for our 10 year anniversary (June 8th)

Where's the best seating for the event, etc?

hell yea, my cousin lives like 1/4 mile from the track off of georgetown rd (can see the stands from his front porch)

i'll find out if he's having a party for the GP and we'll have to hook up!

The when I went I sat in section A which was just at the exit of the corner leading to the straight. It was a good place to see the action in the pits and the speed of the cars on the front straight. The race was a bit boring, I've decided to skip it this year and go to Sebring instead.

Yeah Rob, good place for Indy 500 parking too.

IMO, the best seats are in Stand J, the NW Vista, and possibly Stand H. I sit in Stand J, 3 row from the top, and they are perfect. I can see from when the enter the front stretch all the way to after corner 7 (entrance to the backstretch)

I'm a USAC official. I've worked past 4 events from one end to the other turn 8, turn 4, turn 1 and turn 13 last year.
To be honest, the best seats aren't seats. Get general admission and walk around. There are big screens all over the place. You can walk around to different corners, spend time in the infield and not think you have to get back to your seat (REALLY crowded). Turn 1 had mostly Columbians,
Ferrari fans are on the knoll outside turn 8, I saw Indian fans in the stands at 13A last year. Front straight, you can see pit action, but Friday and Saturday, you can walk over there (cross track stands) and no one will complain too much. Sunday you HAVE to have a ticket to start up any section of reserved seats. Fri/Sat sit just about anywhere.
Watch for me. I'll be one of the folks in blue coveralls. (there's only 200-250 of us

F1 has gotten too expensive. San Marino in 2000 was like $400 for normal seat we had to fight over. $400 is half a 1 year card to the Nuerburgring

Not here in the states. My infield tickets were $60 and a decent seat can be had for $80-$100. I think a lot of europeans come to the states since the weekend will cost the same.

That's why it's so much better living in the US. The most expensive USGP ticket is ony $150.00 and many are much less.

I'll be there again. Last year my dad got seats on race day for $65 each. We sat in the infield for that mess. I don't think he will go back, but I'll be there. I love F1 weekend in Indy. The Ferrari concours downtown is cool. I'm sure being from Cali you have seen things much cooler though.
Let me know if you have any questions on where to eat. Oh yeah, My living room floor is open if you need a free place to stay.

Thanks for all the info everyone. Looks like we're going to try and make it a Thurs thru Monday trip. We'll be staying with a family friend who lives about 25 mins. from the track.

What are some other things to do in Indy? Jeff wants to see the museum... and Jason mentioned dirt track stuff (which we're definitely game for).

Circle Centre Mall (Downtown)
White River State Park (Downtown - Has the State Museum and the NCAA Hall of Fame)
Fastimes Indoor Karting (North Side - European Style Karting)
Possibly events at IRP that weekend.

If you are in town during any weekdays, you may be able to get a tour of an IRL or Champ Car shop if you are interested.

Also, the city is really one big exotic car show F1 weekend, especially downtown. There are car shows on the Circle downtown all weekend featuring Ferraris, classic cars, etc. I usually just go downtown in the evening that weekend to see all the nice cars cruisng around.
