This is probably a repost, but I saw a new VW commercial tonight for the new GTi and it destroyed a riced out Civic.

Commercial was stupid really, with an annoying German guy that was trying to be hip. Shortly after seeing the Honda one, they had one bashing a riced out Focus. The car ends up getting crushed by a crate with the GTi in it.

Anyone else see this?

Sounds stupid...especially when they seem to be going after a very stereotypical market segment that have probably grown out into Audis and other VW products.

Seems like the whole Civic Nation commercials in Canada...seeing a team of tuned Civics cruising around city streets (albeit in the OLD version of the Civic).

And I always wondered why VW drivers seem to think there cars are better than every ones. VW arent really that great there a ****ty version of a German car, If I was gunna waiste my money on a german car a VW wouldnt be one of them.

Id rather say I have a Mercedes or a BMW, If i wanted to flaunt something and actually impress people.

Saying I have a VW doesnt get the wow, and saying you have a VW and having the attitude you think its "wow" is even stupider. VW kinda sucks, plus christ if they could actually make a car without an electrical issue id be amazed.

cannot wait for the day when the government starts stepping in on power levels/performance/ratios of cars released and commercials promoting them...limiting them and/or censoring.

Soon enough...because we all know street-racing is not on the decline...but neither are commercials and car companies promoting it:rolleyes:

I've not seen this particular commercial, but I have seen the one with a guy in his white GTI and his "fast" on the front passenger's seat. His girlfriend wants to go to the store with him but he locks the door and closes the window to block her access. He didn't wan't the extra weight of a passenger. He called her fat. Funny.

You can see some of the "fast" commercials here:

Also, btw, the little "fast" mascots are going for hundreds of $ on eBay:

There were only 600 produced and you had to buy a GTI to even have a shot at getting one.
I have seen so many different claims on this. Is everyone who buys a GTI getting one or only some?

The "Fast" commercials are great!
I think the little "Fast" mascot was a great marketing gimmick too.

I've only have only seen the Eclipse bashing commerical with a catapult. I thought it was one of the worst commercials I've ever seen. The Russian guy (trying to be German?) was really un-funny. I was actually watching TV with my Mom at the time and we both just kinda looked at each other and shrugged when it was over.

(Is that the guy from Prison Break, and Armageddon (Russian Cosmonaut in the Space Station))?

The 'bashing commercials' (as some call them) are hilarious. There are 3 of them...one civic, eclipse, and focus. just keep an eye open...

Sands - I believe the first 600 went out to dealers. Additionally, everyone who buys a GTI will get one mailed to them.
I LOVE the Fast commercials. These commercials just don't seem funny to me at all. Not because they are making fun of other cars, but that annoying German guy grates my nerves! Making a VW sign out of his fingers like he's a gangster and "unpimping" your rides. :screwy:

If HE wasn't in the commercial, it might be tollerable.
