Does the Saleen just use the 2.0 Duratec?
I happen to be good friends with one of the engineers, I can assure you that you are wrong.Dwzx3fc said:Was the engineer drinking his lunch?
Here is the math:Dwzx3fc said:Drum brakes in the rear.I thought Saleen did their car's from the ground up.I guess they missed that option on the Foci.Even the SVT has discs in the rear.Did
Saleen even beef up the bottom end for nitrous use?I'm thinking not.Anybody know the full specs on the car?
There was never a Zetec Saleen.Dracconix said:I believe they have had 3 different....
The 2.0 Zetec...
The 2.3 Duratec...
The 2.0 Duratec...
Why not? $35,000 and build it to keep up with an Evo aka Lancer or WRX aka Impreza. I could see a market for that. it's not like Saleen builds high volumes.focalxplosion said:I happen to be good friends with one of the engineers, I can assure you that you are wrong.
Here is the math:
GT Mustang = 25k, Saleen Mustang = 50k BEFORE you add the SC
focus = 15k, Saleen focus = 10k
Saleen would have no problem building a focus to the level that they do a Mustang, the problem would come in selling a 40k focus. There just isn't a market for that kind of car.
There was never a Zetec Saleen.
nitrous is perfectly legal in your car as long as its not hooked up... it can only be hooked up on the track. :thumbup:spazbite said:I agree with Dwzx3fc. I thoguht Nitrous was illegal to use in every state, so how can dealerships sell a car that comes with nitrous? As for the warranty, Saleen put in the No2, not ford, so i can see the voided warranty part there. Subaru put the turbo in the WRX.

That's the Saleen concept Focus built in 2003. It was an aftermarket Saleen-built Focus to build all the parts for, not a Saleen production car. All of the Saleen production cars use Duratec motors (2.3 in '04 and 2.0 in '05).HaveBlue83 said:then what is this? N20 Focus #01:

looks like a Zetec to me.......yeah, it's real....it was at the Saleen Booth at the 40th Anna. of the Mustang in TN in 04.
I noticed it had a black bumper support and under the hood....must not have been blue to start with. Also it has fog lights....never seen another saleen focus, or most other saleens, with fogs. they had a red one there as well, and it didn;'t have fogs.....
thats funny!!! if they can do it so can we lol...Nliiitend1 said:yeah yeah, my point was that even though Saleen has status as a "Manufacturer," they don't have much to do with what I would consider to be the manufacturing process of their Focuses...(i.e., get a base Focus, change a couple parts, install a couple of bolt-ons, and sell it as your own...)
Most of the Saleen's are Zetec powered, anything pre 04. Then again most of the saleen foci before the 04 were just saleen stuff added at the dealers. I personally will never buy another saleen focus part after the experience I had with them.focalxplosion said:I happen to be good friends with one of the engineers, I can assure you that you are wrong.

good for them, the real problem is the longevity of those brakes under hard driving.netdragoon said:They didn't beef up the bottom end, and as I remember reading (upon reading a dyno analysis) they even left the stock plugs in..rofl.
Even with the stock brakes and extra junk weight, they were still pulling braking times that were better than many of the MUCH higher priced cars they compared it to.
